My thoughts go out to this rider

I bet even your police friends wish that for once in your life you have a "Speedy" recovery

Police Sergeant on TV3 just said they won't say nought until SCU have done their bit...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Just had a thing on the news, the media rep said he was a constable, and they showed some footage of him being put in the ambulance, he appeared to be white, with a smallish rectangular tattoo on his upper left arm (mebbe 2inch by 1 inch).

Dunno if that helps anyone figure out if hes one of our resident plods?

You know what, I sincerely hope that this cop is OK.
Having said that, it seems to me that with threads like this there is a danger that we reach a point where outpourings of sympathy somehow turn into ghoulishness.

He should be ok - I think

I have just got back from the fatal car crash at the Tuakau Bridge that the bike cop was on his way to when he came off. I know him quite well and have ridden with him when I was on the work bike. He is a great guy who would do anything for anyone...
While I was on the way to the car fatal, the news seemed pretty bleak... he was status 1 (not going anywhere fast). However, he has since been downgraded to status 2 (serious but should be ok) so hoping for the best.

Not sure what his injuries are though - I had to get another SCU member to go to his crash.

Looks like he hit a bit of gravel coming around a corner and all over before he could do anything about it.

And by the way ... the weather is S^%# down there!!

Thanks for the update - my sympathies to the family. Hope all goes well...

And Katman, unfortunately I couldn't red rep you for being a complete and utter wanker in this thread - God knows I tried.

Katman - cross between ghoul and troll. Nuff said. To red rep gives it more cred than it deserves.

Hope the cop pulls thru. Sounds like another road problem is it?

And there they go spending 15 mill on domestic violence ads to try save a handful of lives yearly while the toll skyrockets. God its like living in South America. The only permanent solution I can see may be a final bustrip on some crap road for all the pollies responsible.
