Get a radar detector bro....& you gotta do some trackdays, nothing like ringin her kneck & I found that it satisfied me enough to slow down a bit on the road...![]()

well I will stick up for you a little bit. I know what you mean. 143k/hr and the 9 is still just ticking over.
For sure, sometimes I like to cruise around the countryside slowly and take in the scenery. Only problem with that idea is "cruise round the contryside slowly" translates to "a menace to society and a danger to all children everywhere"
Criusing at 120-130-140km.hr doesnt feel fast. Doesnt feel dangerous and the bike feels much more comfortable than at 100k.hr. 100k and it feels like you are doing 60 on the open road.
As far as suggestions for bikes go. The ER6 is a nice bike to ride with limited power and it likes to sit on 100km/hr. Might be a little small for 2up riding though.

Trackdays are fun for sure but I struggle for 2 reasons.
They are either:
1. Damn expensive ($130 for an hour on the track (5x20mins max) when I can go out the back roads which are always open and thrash it out for a while and risk not paying anything for the adventure.
2. Kwakas dont do sponsered trackdays. Suzuki have got a good thing going with their $50 trackdays. Unfortunately kwakas are not invited.
If i could get on the track for $50 /month then it might just see me out from thrashing it out on the road. But the oppourtunity isn't there or it is not finanically viable.
Now other side of the coin (just to keep my reputation in tact) is I went for a ride on sunday and the GPS recorded a top speed of 122km/hr. That was a fun ride but doesn't negate the points above.

lol
mate i got me a sports tourer as such (bandit 1250 half faired) and nope, it dont like going slow.
as said by others, an ER6 type bike or a custom cruiser i think is the only way to really slow down. or maybe a naked? (bike or bird or both lol) something like a hornet 900? its big enough to go 2 up but you get a lot of windblast at too high a speed but still awesome in the bendy bits.

hey cheers. Someone who is honnest about motorcycle riding. Not aimed so much at people on this thread but so many bikers talk as if they have never broken a speed limit in their life. Insted of getting off their high horse they try and attack your charcter.
I never speed in residential areas, near schools, clubs etc. Now and then on the open road i exceed 100 kays. Who honestlty dosent?
All im realy after is a bike with balls that dosent mind cruising at 110 for prolonged periods without making you feel like your doing two thousand revs above idle with 11 thousand more to go to redline. Unfortunitly thats what the ninja is doing!

Rising a sports bike then the most fun is riding fast and exploiting the bike. This may or may not constitute dangerous driving, but will likey as not be above legal speeds and you have already paid the price there.
So it sounds you are ready for another type of riding. Touring with the misses, and getting your fun getting places as well as in wringing the hell out of a bike. A sport tourer like my ole gal is quite capable to tearing it up when you fancy, able to do the longer haul (although obviously a 1000 would be better there) two up and relaxed enough to tick over in 6th on the highway without you wanting to tear your hair out.
You don't have to get a harley to ride a more relaxed way and enjoy more than speed along you journey.

Thats a good point. Ive been thinking about how i used to ride and why. Ive been riding on and off road bikes for 17 yrs now and ive found since buying my first sports bike (92 ZXR750) im more speed orientated. As for when i was riding earlyer in my life it was for the pure enjoyment of it.

The Daytona hates top gear at 100 k too. What about staying in 4th or 5th on the main roads, that way you'll still get the feel of the mid range, works for me when I'm on the main highways. And if you get a bigger sport cruiser, then do the same. And besides, you don't have to stick to main roads, much better riding to be had on the back roads, and the wife will enjoy them as well. Good luck![]()
You need to figure out what is important to you. Is giving your sportsbike a good caning the bee all & end all or is their more to bikes than that?
Don't make the assumption that sportstourers or cruisers are slow, they are not. They are very different to ride than the full on sportsbike & have more usable power for road work & carrying a pillion than a sports model, usually have a better seating position as well. They are designed for the road whereas a sports model is designed for the track & road riding is secondary to their main purpose.
