I am looking at buying a later model bike at the end of the year. seems like you can pick up a late model kdx for cheap. ( I will have around 4 grand to spend)
any pros / cons to these bikes? how about reliabilty?

These bikes are bullet proof, the forks are a bit soft as standard, but with a revalve and re spring they can be made very good. They are reasonably light and with a pro circuit pipe they can go really well. For the price they are unbeatable.

Yeah no worries, I float between 80 and 85kg and when I had one it hauled me around real well, as you start getting faster though you will really notice the forks.
My friend scored a 2000 model a month or so ago and he is rapt with it.

They are a great bike, really tractable power and one of my favorites as a trailbike, I perfer the kdx 250 over the 200 but im not on sure on price difference.
I have heard of and seen issues with the exhaust valves and also damaged bores on the 200's so find one thats been well looked after and make sure the power valves are working ( You should feel them kick in ) Good luck.

Power valve issues are relevant with all models if they've been neglected, they snap just below the actuation cam so keeping the adjustment set properly is important.
Another thing to keep an eye on is clutch rattle which is actually a design fault though not a serious or harmful issue, just annoying and is overcome by running roughly 50ml over the recommended gearbox oil level. Rear suspension mounting bolts have a tendency to work loose if not kept an eye on. consumable items like steering head bearings/wheel bearings/rear suspension linkage bushes/fork seals etc should be kept in check too

yeah.., and about buying suzuki lol. cost me like $400 to get it in good working order. its a good bike now but kinda getting old.didnt you learn last time about buying cheap? haha

nah dont worry i dont even care lol. I knew work needed to be done on it when I bought it... i hope that 2500 you spend included the purchase price lol.
you rekon I would be able to get 2 grand as is for it? I have just rebuilt the top end.. hasnt even been run in, but needs clutch work.
