What is it with dyno results? All that my bike pulls harder than your bike is a load of wank factor. What's wrong with getting your bikes out on a track and see who has the biggest balls and the best skills?

Quite right. All the power in the world won't get a goose around the track.

Plus I was lead to believe that results on one dyno can't be compared to another, i.e. they're principally a means for testing one bike against another on the same dyno or comparing to the same bike pre any mods on the same dyno. Dynos vary in type and operation so the figures don't provide an ultimate "this is the power this bike puts out" figure. For example, atmospheric pressure (the weather) affect the results from day to day.

Surely not all motorcycling is about a race track
"See who's got the biggest balls on the track..." sounds like more of a "wank" to me but hell....each to their own eh.
Some people have simply worked their arses off to buy some after market goodies for their bikes and are after the results.

So isnt the point of aftermarket goodies to make your bike faster? What good is a piece of paper saying your bike pulls harder than everyone elses if you cant use it?

The point usually is to make your bike RUN better than stock.
The piece of paper is to show where and how it does this.
Anyway....what's wrong with making you bike run faster that what it did originally? Most bikes could do with a dyno run...

I dont think theres anything wrong with making it faster but most people(you not included) would never be able to use its full potential stock standard anyway.

That's what I was trying to say. The dyno is only part of the picture; a well put-together package will outrun (on the track, the strip or the road) a stocker without huge power. Good suspension, brakes and tune-up work wonders for the overall performance of any machine.

Too many people get sucked into chasing the big figures without looking at the peripheral equipment but it IS handy to know what you have if you're in a competitive situation.

There's no point in putting big hp into the wrong bike or the wrong hands.

And how many of those came from the stickers?

My K4 1k only had 145hp and its only mod was a Yoshi pipe.
