At first I thought that offering bikes as a prize could limit who'd buy the tickets (i.e. most people don't have a bike license so couldn't ride the prize anyway). Now I think about it, not everyone owns a boat or wants a 4WD so it probably wouldn't make much difference. It would have to be a dream bike or a "his and hers" matching pair.

So who wants to take the blame when some silly sod who hasnt ridden a bike before jumps on his newly won Hyabusa/R1/ZX14/whatever they decide to give, and takes out a car full of nuns? Great idea to bikers, but you have to remember there are a lot of idiots out there.

Thats why you suggest to the lotteries to check licenses and offer them cash instead if they can not produce one. There are ways of making it work you know

That would suck for the person who'd always wanted to own a bike and their partner wouldn't let them have one. Even if the winner wanted to get a bike license, he/she probably couldn't resist riding the prize whilst on a learner license.

Yes, they are. I guess Lotteries could be considered socially irresponsible for encouraging it though? The prize would need to include a full set of bike gear to prevent anyone riding the bike without it.

Well thats a very good idea. I would say if they ever did decide to use that as a prize it wouldn;t be like a Big Wednesday one it would be a one off promotion

Similar to how they gave away the 10 Fords or whatever it was. People would still buy the tickets because they want to win the money, not necessarily the bike.

    fact is

they give away cars, if you win its your ,doesnt mater if you have a licence or not ,its like if you went into a show room and payed cash for a car you could drive away in it even if you dont have a licence, its the responsibility of the driver!!!

The car makers most likely give them the cars or at least a discount. I don't think the people that make cash will give a discount on that tho......
I'm selling my new riding gear!! Only worn a few times get a deal Kiwibikers!!

Bwhahahahaha . the God of John Calvin would certainly take responsibility for killing off nuns ... (and given the number of churches he seems to drop on people he has that sort of sense of humour ...)

But you are right ... bikes as prizes that non-riders can win is just dangerous and fucken stupid ..

I know someone who owns a farm, so I know where my Harley would go..
