If anyone knows of a Bantam in reasonable nic that needs a good home can you let me know. Dad raced one and I learnt to ride on one so it only seems fair . What's more I googled my surname the other day - I know , get a life _ and it turns out it's the name of a type of chicken Ooh that's spooky

Yep, going to attack the poor thing with a steelo pad and some kero at some stage soon. It's tired looking, and the bottom of the frame is covered in grease and crap, but overall it's pretty good for 50 years old! We'll take some pics.

The part apparently we need above all else is the kick start lever, and the splined shaft that it mounts on. The spline has gone. I myself would probably just have sent them somewhere to be built up and resplined, but then I've never tried finding parts for a BSA

My mate tells me that it's not a Super Bantam, but a Bantam Super... if that makes a different?

I'll take photos of it, and that part, and I'll get my calipers out and measure that part up too.

Sorry to hijack your thread but seeing as it has a captive classic audience I'll sneak in.

If anyone knows of any Ducati 250 narrow case single parts lying around feel free top contact me. I also have a list mostly bodywork related, tank, tool boxes, headlight etc but also things like sprockets and the like. I THINK it's a 1967 Mark III, originally a 350 but now fitted with a 250.

And to bring it back on topic it is currently fitted with a Bantam tank repainted in British Racing Green with period Ducati stickers. Why? I have no idea.

I looked through the bits I have, found the kick start shaft but I don't have any good kickstarts.

    Do you want it?

Yep, when I get home tonight I'll post the pics and measurements of the one I've got, and we'll see if it's a winner

    Ok, here they are.

    Those sizes for clarification are:
    - 96mm long
    - 13.8mm id at the spline end
    - 13.5mm id at the other end
    - 17.36mm od at the other end
    - 19.75mm od
    - 43.1mm from the end of the spline to the stepped portion
    - 24mm od for the stepped portion

Talked to Andy's father last night... apparently back in the day he wasn't able to get the correct kickstart, only a tapered one, which is how he ended up in this situation.

looking at the picture you posted of it it's a D7 Super Bantam and that's going from the Haynes Profile book.

Got a couple of manuals, owners handbook, factory tuning letter etc that I could send any info off if you want.

Got a few switches, and other assorted items too plus a selection of brand new cables for them as well (but that would be like sending coal to newcastle)

Yeah, he did mumble something about 'D7' and an engine number. His shed is a tip though, I'm not getting on my hands and knees to look

Yep, if you're not within driving distance of Christchurch, posting it would be great.

I'll get Andrew to sign up here tonight (if he hasn't already, I know he reads them occasionally), and PM you guys

Thanks for the help though guys, he's talked about getting it going for a while, didn't think it would be quite so easy though!

All the written material I can run off copies for you, but they aren't for sale I've got a D1 Bantam stashed away in the shed myself.

I'll have a check over exactly what items I've got and let you know
