Bike buying experiences..(worst days of my life)

Hey guys/gals.. brought a vtr250 (keeping my cb250ft hornet) its quite modded out eg braided lines, full exhaust and muffler kit and handle bar/bar ends and mirrors.got it from masterton about 2 and a half weeks ago ,only time ive got to ride it is the first day i test drove it as the day after i got a phone call saying that there was a problem with a cam chain tensioner???? and that it would take 2 weeks to get a replacement..so 2 weeks later (im very excited and getting impatient) i get a txt message from the dealer salesman saying it wont be here till 14th of october (WOW) that is a long time for such a small part .so that made my day ,i almost punched the guy at the counter who was in the process of telling me that they didnt have my favourite magazine in stock(BikeRider Mag) so yea stormed out of the service station and went for a blat on my hornet got back and realised id got a puncher in my new rear tyre and it also failed the warrent because of a bad sprocket which also has to be ordered in from japan. so now im bikeless and almost starting my studyies at palmy ucol which im going to have to get their somehow ...guys at masterton bike shop said they had no 250cc bike to lend me so im stuffed...grrr

bit of bad luck there for sure. At least they are fixing it now, rather than you having problems out on the road.

Hitching could be an option for a couple of days if you end up bike-less. I had to do it the other day when I sold my GN and had to drop it off and had no ride home.

Carrying my helmet and bike gear and looking like I do I got 3 rides between Hamilton and Oto and the cars that picked me up were all driven by lovely ladies. They said they felt compelled to stop when they saw my helmet . So now I a have a good tip for getting a ride - have your helmet hanging down by your side as you walk along, the chicks dig it .

Why does your sprockets have to come from Japan? Cant you just chuck those JT sprockets into the hornet?

If they dont have a 250 then what about a 150cc or anything to get you going? Just ask them for something. I took my Fireblade in a workshop and politely ask them for a loan bike ended up with a mint Moto Guzzi Breva and the part which they had to order only cost less than 30 bucks.

As 98tls has said ask them for a refund and I am pretty sure they will magically find a solution for you.
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.

the sprockets werent in or something it just seems like excuse after excuse a.i cant get anything bigger than a 250cc as a loan bike a as im only on a restriced and dont really want a fine and my commute is on main road and i need something that can hit 100kph and sit at it..although odds are that if im not riding like a maniac and attracting attention id never get picked up by the enemy riding a larger cc'd bike..

98tls is right on the money ... under the Consumers Guarantee Act ot the Fair Trading Atc (can't remember which), you can ask for a full refund (they're not allowed to deduct ANYTHING) or a replacement.

You can look up the act at http://www.legislation.govt.nz/ to check because there's other stuff like how quickly they have to respond and what other remedies you have.

It sounds to me like one of the mechanics binned it and they're shitting themselves trying to get it fixed without you knowing.

hahahaha yea probly a ...yea that is actually wat everyone is saying (that the mechanics forgot to do it originally or they just chucked it to the side and only just sent away for the part now) but the sales person is keeping me posted and stuff and im just glad they found the problem and fixed it rather than me not finding it and binning or somethng..
