I agree with that. Leaving at 6.30 is about as late as I'd want to leave... especially if we're going slightly further afield than just to the Wheatsheaf. So, I think for next Wednesday we'll just meet at BK Moorhouse again, same time... and regroup at the Halswell Tavern (in case of being split up at lights) not long afterwards. So if you can't be arsed going all the way into BK, just wait for us at the Halswell. How's that sound for a winner?

Thing is it was actually just after 6:45 when we departed BK and very close to 7pm when passing Halswell anyway.
Make the departure time a little firmer at 7pm from Halswell instead of giving everyone an extra 15minutes after the quoted departure time then the times work out same as what we just did. I do hate to feel rushed though.
Not really going to affect me either way, if work picks up again I'll be stuffed until 10pm those nights.

Works for me as I am about 4 or 5 minutes away from BK.

For me, the 6:30 aint good as I work early mornings every two weeks.. and then I work nights the weeks in between. So I'm either at work, or I have to be in bed early/already asleep by 6:30. Even today, I got home at 3 and jumped into bed as I have to be back at work at 3am and get out in time to head to Biketoberfest. Im only up now as someone bloody rang me, and the thought of the ice cream in the fridge made it hard to sleep

Waiting at Halswell would suit me good, but any Wensday ride I show up at I'd leave early to get back home by 8:30 at latest.

i agree 6.30 is a good leaving time ATM, but its going to be getting dark later and later so maybe in the future it could be 7???

Sorry i missed the first ride-busy with work.I think the BK meeting place is a good central one.As not all rides are going out through Halswell are they?Would get a bit boring doing the same run week after week and ending up at the Wheatsheaf pub.How about getting some ideas of some rides worked out and send a PM or post up for the run organiser/s an option of where to head on future nights. I wont make the next ride as i will be up North swapping bikes, but will try the next week. cheers.

Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!

A newbie looking for other CHCH bikers

    Hey all,

I just got my 2007 Suzuki GN250 on tuesday and have been buzzing around now all week. It's great fun!

My question is would a L-Plate Rider (myself) be suitable for a Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride? If people expect to be going over 70kph or riding later than 10pm it might start getting tricky for me.

Obviously I can always leave when I need to (so the time factor isn't really an issue) but I don't want to turn up and find that I'm the one Learner there who is slowing down a bunch of hard-core bikers who expect to be going 120kph!

I'd really like to meet people who are experienced riders and get a chance to learn about riding (since i really have zero knowledge). I also love to get to hear about more rides to fun places! Riding by myself is fun, but I can only imagine that riding with others is better

Anyway, let me know... if you can think of a better regular ride for me to attend I'd be interested to hear.

    Hi Mach,

One of the points of these rides is to get learners out riding with more experienced riders so you're definately welcome along. We will always cater for you, i.e. there will always be an experienced rider at the tail to make sure noone gets left behind. We do tend to ride in 100k zones but if you can only do 70 you won't be left behind. We were home before 10 last week, so I don't see that being a problem.

I hope you can make it along

Sounds good, Phoenix. I've already been PM'd a couple of times about CHCH rides so it looks like the ol' KB community is doing itself proud!

Unless something random and horrible comes up I expect to be there on Wednesday. As I understand it, that is BK Moorhouse at 6pm on Wednesday for a 6:30pm start?

Dunno. I'm not really a leader type of person, donchaknow (didn't think I'd have to make a speech last week!). Not fast enough to ride in the lead... though since it was supposed to have been a cruisy ride (and no-one was really interested in just cruising) the pace should've been fine... I dunno. Any ideas? Not looking like I'll have my bike back for this one either.
