Because the motorbikes down that walkway are in the way when it gets busy. I think he might find someone else to rant at too, and forget all about the bikes, if he hasn't already.

And like chris said, they need to be on a slant.

I just thought, why don't we break out the white paint when nobody is looking and put some diagonal parking spaces in there It would look legit then wouldn't it

Umm, No you didn't. The apostrophe shows belonging as it replaces the "of". As you already used the word "of" there is no requirement for the apostrophe. (Primary school level literacy). An apostrophe would be required if you had worded the sentence "I do agree though that many UOA students' writing skills are pretty shocking."

Seriously, as long as the exhaust system silences the engine, who cares if it's got rust all over it?

    It's just a bloody motorbike.

Much better so far today, nobody has parked near the locker areas or even the gym, but the sci centre part is 1 bike off capacity its just the wall and by the door when it becomes intrusive

i see you've finally got yourself a racebike then chris

hmmm so much for the ol codger being reasonable.....sent uni-patrol on the bikes down there and now they threatening to tow any bikes and scooters that are parked there.

looks like the cunt has fired the first shot so according to my rules of engagement, whatever we do now is only a reaction to the his initial attack....

anyone keen on a sit-in down there?? Thought there would be a bunch of outraged bikers down there when i showed up but all i saw was the r1 and a scooter so it was a pity.....cant tow the bikes if we're sittin on em

oh i feel like such a dirty hippy with this "passive resistance" crap!!!

what the hell is wrong with that wrinkled ol fart?!?! shud just follow him around till we figure out where he parks his car and draw some yellow lines where he parks and kindly draw it to the attention of a parking warden

^ There's two ways in solving this issue. I don't believe in passive resistance, you gotta get proactive and start being assertive.

One is to reason with him and reach a mutual agreement - doubt that will work unless you start getting some big shots from Uni

The other, starting a poster run around Uni with his picture on the front which informs students, lecturers, and motorcyclists of our plight and he is culprit behind all this shit.

Of course, the poster will be worded apporpiately but with conviction. The last thing we want is some defamation order, but then again it's used widely to scare people to keep their mouths shut.

I am backing whatever you decide to do. The more assertive/pro-active the approach is, the better!

yea i seriously doubt that he's keen to come to any mutually acceptable agreement....his major worry was "pedestrian inconvenience because bikes come in and out using that little passageway"....umm mate that is a fucking poor excuse, most peds dont mind takin one step sideways while we pass them at 5kph....how many peds j-walk across symonds st?? thats more than just an "inconvenience" to road-users and can cost lives....but you're not worried about that now are ya??

this would be a good idea if done properly (legally)...good way to raise awareness to the issues of bike safety and the lack of safe bike parking....this is a very gay time for this prick to be pulling this stunt....probably waited till exams came around to make his move :P

I don't know the area, but is there any other way to get a bike in there other than over the footpath/ped area?

If that is his major concern then you can get rid of it by using another entrance?

Staff entrance on princess st, i leave and enter thru there...

I very much doubt they'll be towing, towee's dont like to touch bikes with the huge chance of damage involved, plus they'd actually have to get to the bike first....

I'll see who i cant talk to at the uni about this, gotta say though that not much improvement was shown in parking from when the first encounter occured...

I suspect any discussion would most likely result in us being allowed to park by the sci center and next to gym but NOT along the wall or by the door to the lockers... thats a good compromise as, to be honest, we do block the path when we park along the wall and in the doorway area.

Anyhow, i shall see what i can find out tomorrow regarding this, brash actions wont get us anywhere right now. Will be a good chance to raise our problem of thieves on symonds and so forth
