You musta been.... high. You musta been...
Well i'm all for cruisy rides, bring 'em on
It'll be nice to meet a few of you lads and ladies!
I'm not going to be shy about admitting the fact that I'm a total beginner at riding, i've only had my GN250 for a week! Of course, I've ridden it as much as I could all week, so hopefully i'm not too terrible to join you all![]()
This "L"-plated n00b might also show up tomorrow. I'll have to check that there's no conflicting plans - so I guess I'll check the my calendar tonight (she needs to get off from work.
However, if the roads are soaked or it's raining I think I'll be staying at home considering my gear and experience.
Hope to see you guys tomorrow night.
Cheers

Right, were going to check out this Lincoln route. Could someone who knows where they're going please post up the route and maybe even a map? That would be awesome. I'll also ask if that person could lead the ride (seeing as they know where they're going).
We will still meet at the BK carpark at 6 but we will try to leave there at 6.30pm sharp and regroup in Halswell before heading off.
Sound like a plan?
P.S. Welcome Mikkel and don't worry, if it's raining I don't think any of us will be going
and for another idea:
up SH1 to Waikari, then up the scargill valley thru to greta valley pub for a quickie and then back down SH1, prob a couple of hours riding all up, very nice roads tho![]()

gah, I'm gonna have to take the fxr again...my 'prilia dropped a powervalve and is out of action for a number of weeks...just as well the dealer's paying for it.
Ok, now I'm convinced it will be way to wet tomorow evening.
I'm interested to see a route drawn for the Lincoln run as I just can't see a way there that interests me other than via Gebbies or beyond.
I hate straight roads and see little value in them for learners... other than the social contact side of it all

I think the problem with the backroad to Lincoln is that it's just not twisty enough. I made up a map for it (including posted corner speeds and speed limit changes), which I'll attach to show you why I don't think it's that good.
The good part of it's the twistys leading up to the 35K corner. After that, the road's bumpy, and there's bugger all corners to keep it interesting. I've ridden this road many times, and it's just not twisty enough to keep to the speed limit, because boredom sets in.
If we wanted a better route, how about down old taitapu road and head to little river. There's a pub there that we can stop at, and we can then split into three groups: over gebbies then through lyttleton tunnel, over gebbies, then over dyer's pass back to chch, or back the way we came. I think these would make for a better ride than just to lincoln (or springston) as that way's boooring.
Have a look at the map I made to show you the lincoln route. Please don't go this way unless we're going somewhere with twistys afterwards.

Now you have my interest again. If you were adventure riders then there would be more than one way back from Little River, I'd be real tempted to take the Western valley rd to Port Levy which completes a loop taking me home thru Diamond Harbour. Awesome run, took the CBR1000F over it once or twice when I owned it, real hard work, corrugated shingle and a bit of a stream/ford to cross, very scenic but kinda shakes the fairing and creates or opens up any stress cracks that you might have, adds a half hour or so to the trip back past the the Weatchef too, but your not Adventure riders so I'll try to forget that it's there if we find ourselves in Little River.

So the meet is same time same place as last week?
