So you suggest we'll just keep the flame burning ever higher and keeping the party going? Hmmm - let's see what happens as China get's it shit sorted out and you got 1 billion more people wanting the living standard that we have now.
While I agree that planet earth most likely will be able to sort us out without too much of a worry - it's what that sorting out is going to do to our society that should get your attention.
Also, I'm afraid that without a little exaggeration you won't capture Joe Average's imagination and have him understand that something's gotta give... namely HIM. And to be honest don't bother about worrying about classes in society, they have always been there and always will be. Be happy that we as "serfs" actually have some freedom in how we choose to live our lives. Trust me - a few thousand billionaires darting around in private jets are not going to have any significant environmental impact whatsoever.
With regards to the atmosphere it's not about whether WE heat it up or not. It's a question of how different gasses absorp and store the heat of the sun. Here you have CO2 being a better absorber than Nitrogen and Methane being even better yet - and sure enough water vapour is even better still... So much more reason to be concerned - if we raise the humidity enough things might get out of hand. E.g. Mars has had an atmosphere at one point and Venus has not always been the hellish hot acid planet that it is today.
Sure enough - all of this doesn't matter on the larger scale of things because either the universe will continue to expand or it will contract in a big crunch in the end. Either way, long before this happens the sun will swallow up the earth and everything on it... so yeah, why give a fuck. Let's just eat, shit, drink, root and be happy - however, how long we'll enjoy these privilleges might depend on how we go about enjoying them.eace:

Some smart people have worked very hard and think there is evidence to suggest that pouring shit into the atmosphere - in the order of millions of tonnes per year - is perhaps going to fuck it over in the long term. Like going out drinking every night only bigger, or perhaps putting a quarter teaspoon of sugar in your petrol tank once a week. Go ahead, try it.
Some other smart people have also worked hard and decided that the atmosphere gets hotter and colder anyway and all we are seeing now is the latest cycle.
Either which way I'm inclined to listen more to smart people who work hard rather than someone who can't even be bothered to correctly spell the name of the scientific award in question.
I see now what we need Al Gore for - I personally thought the whole thing was stating the fucking obvious, but perhaps not.

While this is fine, we should consider what people in the future are going to think of us. For instance: if those cunts in the past hadn't royally fucked over the Maori then we wouldn't be left having to pay out hundreds of millions of dollars to make up for it now. Sure, we have a few extinct species to show for our predecessors - the narrow minded dickwads - but it's peanuts compared to the world's supply of oil being gone. Or vast swathes of the planets surface being unable to grow food (let alone the current biofuel obsession, which is bollocks). Or vast chunks of Europe being underwater leading to tens of millions of homeless cloggies. Hmm. Suddenly doesn't seem so bad, does it?
Anyway, the planet will be fine. After all, it's managed to recover from a mass extinction at least once, several ice ages and god alone knows what else. Literally. Hell, we could have a nuclear war and there'd still be plants and cockroaches. It's our ability to live on it that's in doubt.

I wonder if he has a few shares in the global con that is "carbon credit trading"?

Dave, I think you are wrong. Nobel Prize is an award given to the best and the brightest among scientists and artists for "Outstanding contributions in physics, chemistry, literature, peace, and physiology or medicine, and economics" (Wikipedia).
The way I see it, *NOBLE PISS* Prize is a potful of products of metabolism of European "nobility" given to world's biggest assholes in order to celebrate their asshattery (Arafart) or piss on Americans (Carter and Goracle).

Chicken Little's must be in the majority where the Nobel's live!
I guess the sky is falling faster now.
Gullible bastards. Gores a bloody(IMHO) John.

Personally, I don't care how much he's benefiting from it. He has spent the last 30+ years promoting environmental awareness. Better he make money from helping the environment rather than destroying it.
Although he hasn't stated whether he'll run or not, I would be thrilled if he did. It would make a nice change to have a president with some common sense (or any sense at all for that matter) running the place.
What a joke..Al Gore couldnt even beat George W Bush to the White House. If Gorge W Bush is a loser, what does that make Al Gore?????????
