No friggin idea! However the map will probably have a scale on it so use that or find a measured distance on the map and that gives you a scale to use!

From memory its around 85km from Whakamaru so that would make it around 75 km from Mangakino. It used to take me about 50 - 55 minutes on the RE5 from Whakamaru so probably 45 - 50 minutes from Mangakino.

I'd try a different GPS map. That one must take the real long way round.

69ks via Wharepapa South (stop at the cafe there for coffee) according to my map. I ride this road a lot. It is fully sealed and in good condition (at least it was last week). A mixture of fun twisty bits and some longer fast straights. Beware if you are going through during the weekend, Mr Plod has been known to lurk thereabouts

About 70 kms give or take, all sealed.
I use that road a fair bit. Sometimes heading north I go through the Magawhio gorge and up past Arapuni and hug the western side of the Waikato. Over the dam at Karapiro then Cambridge - Morrinsville - Tahuna - Ohinewai. By that time SH1 is motorway almost all the way to Auckland.
