    Radar Detectors

Not same old stuff I hope ....

I have just bought me a nice new BEL STI DRIVER with the stem mount from radar2go.co.nz

Now I know that they can't save you all of the time but I was wondering how many of you have been caught despite having your detector?

    Cheers

    NN

.... back in green and feeling great ....

When I was collecting cash for the Cullen horde-it-all fund, I recall fooling many a cage driver with the technique of leaving the radar off until the moment they appeared... then its too late for the radar detector to work and they wasted their money buying the stupid thing. The laser used in bursts also defeats detectors.

Generally speaking if a detector was used... they got a ticket because it shows a blatant disregard for speeding in built up areas (where I used to patrol).

If not, then likely a warning if you had a good attitude and were not an active criminal (or I had got my quota for the day and it was doughnut time).

I only ticketed a bike once for speed in my entire time in the job.... he was doing 72km/h in a suburb, had a learner licence on a 1000cc bike, had no L-plate, no WOF no REG and was an active burglar...... he got toasted and bloody deserved it.

Yes they are very expensive and not worth it for those on tight budgets... they could save the money and keep their petrol costs down at the same time if they really thought about it.... but that wouldn't be much fun now would it!

    Explain "fastitude".

I was interested in where you were going with that e.g. are you wanting an attitude of go faster? or is it something more complex?

Sounds sensible to me... I don't see much wrong with having a bit of a go now and then out away from population on a suitably 'safe' road where vehicles don't pull out on ya.

Pity I did not get a heads up to that, I have some rather large and heavy books I could throw at him for good measure!

Harder and harder to find these days, but I agree! Time and place.. the only tickets I have had were open road ones. TBH one was a good thing ( mid-evening, empty motorway, good sounds in my ears......inattention!) cos it made me seriously review the speed I travelled at regularly, and the other to this day I will say was from a "quota gathering" clock in and clock out plod.

Yes well, I was taught "time, place and circumstances" was key.
