Actually there are all kinds of points of view expressed on this site - a lot of which I disagree with and some I think are a complete waste of space. Religion is no more or less appropriate than any other topic.
There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing!
hXc here - and if you don't want to read about religion, then don't fucking click it.
Yungatart here.
Thank you for sharing that. I hope it can bring comfort to some.
Leigh....you clicked it dude, despite the word "prayer" being in the title.....your choice. Don't vent about it, its not necessary.
Diarrhoea is hereditary - it runs in your jeans
If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...
For someone who doesn't want to come here and read 'religion' you sure got a lot to say about it. People come here for all sorts of reasons. Those that don't like what they see, either stay out of those threads or end up not coming back.
Which one will you be?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
I am a non religious person, but I respect the message of this prayer, and I certainly hope it can bring comfort to the family affected by such a tragic loss.
I would have hoped that we would be all intelligent and open minded enough to respect what was obviously meant as a genuine attempt to help in a time of great need and sorrow.
I am no one special on this site, but let me say the obvious: our petty squablings mean nothing in the face of what this family is now going through, and the fallen rider was one of ours.
So if some Kbers feel the need to pray for him, it is their right to do so. Each to their own!
I use Shalom as a salutation - as in peace, good bye & good luck - kinda thing.
The traditional Amen dedicates the prayer to a specific God, untradraditionaly not my version of God. It's only a fundamental personal difference that makes very little difference to the intent.
You’ll notice the pray is not titled to any one God, as we all have our own truth on that matter, and I was not wanting to offend any one.

not for or against religion either but this was a nice thought and nice thing to do.
My favourite quote from the Bible:
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, (1)
he leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness (2)
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, (3)
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; (4)
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life, (5)
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
Amen
Reasons for this being my favourite are
(1) It reminds me that when the going gets tough a "higher power" will ensure that it is not enough to break me.
(2) It reminds me that God has placed a conscience inside of me to guide me in the ways of integrity, honesty and it reminds me that as a person I have certain 'dues' to other people and their well being. No man is an island, and o man should ignore another or his plight. We need to support and love one another regardless of sex, religion, race etc.
(3) It reminds me that God will protect me, and in Him I place such faith, this is not easy. I personally find it hard to hand control of anything over to anyone else...
(4) It reminds me that God has my back and that as long as I do what he asks and demands of me, he will lead me down the given track I need to follow and that he will provide and look after me, my friends and family who are important to me.
(5) It reminds me that so long as I follow his path for my life and remember the values that are important to me, I will produce positive outcomes (those of goodwill and love) for the people around me
and finally, it gives me hope for when I die.
I dont care whether you are an atheist, muslim, mormon or whatever and I respect each persons on decisions for their life. I think that people who get riled up by things such as prayer need to exam why they do so. No harm is intended in the doing and generally those who do so offer their prayers out of concern & love.
I struggle to associate with Christianity know days because it has turned into a judgemental and ludicrous show (take happy clappy pentecostal churches for an example) and I strongly believe that many churches are far to legalistic and up their own arses and dont actually reach and preach to the "real"world. That said, I follow what Jesus wrote in the bible and follow his teachings. Jesus taught love and acceptance of people. You dont have to agree with them, but that should never cause a divide.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.

Be blessed the G-d our Lord, the bringer of truth.
G-d filled with mercy, dwelling in the heaven’s heights, bring proper rest beneath the wings of your blessed presence, amid the ranks of the holy and the pure, illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the souls of those who went to their eternal place of rest. May you who are the source of mercy shelter them beneath your wings eternally, and bind their souls among the living, that they may rest in peace. Amen.
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
For those that have issues about 'religious' prayer... cop this then
Dear Lord, as I get ready to get on this hog and prepare to ride,
Just let me feel your presence with me riding side by side.
Let us feel the wind together blowing across our face,
Don't let me fail to see and smell the nature around me as I ride from
place to place.
Dear Lord, keep me safe from harm and let the other drivers see me as I ride by,
And every once in awhile even though I'm a biker let them say, "Hi".
Keep me alert and always watching for others,
Don't let me ever fail to stop and help out one of my sisters or brothers.
And when my time on earth is up and it's time for me to take that ride in the sky,
Just give me a chance to tell everyone I love them and don't forget me when I die.
Lord, Thank You for letting me be a biker and doing what I loved the best,
For the many miles I traveled, places I got to go and see before I finally came to rest.
