    Yet another Cycletreads thread...

And no it's not a grizzle either!

Wifey and I decided we'd shout each other matching helmets for our 30th, (see "Our Kids Are Awesome"), and I suggested the new Grex RD1's as they have a peak which I wanted for low-sun conditions. Having the screen means no need for super-slipperyness in the wind and they looked quite stylish in the pics with the graphics. Wife said she liked the black/silver so I stopped in and saw Lindsay at Cycletreads.

I mentioned we were thinking about the PHS intercoms and he showed me the bluetooth type, pointing out the convenience factor, ie: no cables. I negotiated a good deal on two bluetooth equipped helmets but he didn't have the colour and sizes in stock. He looked up the supplier's site but said he'd have to check with them about black/silver as it appeared they weren't available. Anyways, he rang to say they were in but in our second choice of black/blue and that he'd fitted the intercoms.

When I arrived to pick them up, I said, "Where's the peaks?" He was very upset that he hadn't remembered to check, as he'd assumed the supplier had sent the one's ordered! The supplier had not advised that they had sent the other style or why! I said it wasn't his fault, so the boss told us to take the helmets for the weekend and use them, (it was Friday eve Labour Weekend!), and they'd get onto the supplier Tues. morning!

The helmets arrived, in the black/silver we originally wanted and Lindsay phoned today to say he'd fitted the intercoms and they were ready to pick up! He was apologetic again, but I assured him that we understood this type of thing can happen and we didn't blame him at all!

Anyway, the helmets look good and we can't wait to try them out! Kudos to Cycletreads for their efforts! They can't win all the time, but we got good service and a good price! I recommend seeing Lindsay in there, he's a good guy!

Now, who wants to buy a near new, hardly worn Nitro size XS and a 3 year old slightly worn Zeus flip-front...?

It's because they have money. And they're not dickheads.

Aside from that I'm trying to think of a "nice helmet" line that doesn't sound even slightly rude. Even "pair of" has it's problems.

    Not too much money...

I did think we might get some comments about trying them on in the bedroom...

Please tell me more about the Bluetooth system. What is it Bluetoothing to? Does your wife ride another bike or does she pillion? Is the Bluetooth bit an integral part of the helmet or would it fit onto any helmet?

It's the Blueant Interphone system, and can be fitted to any helmet. Wifey rides pillion but if she does get her own bike, the system has a limited range bike to bike. It can be tuned to your cellphone as well. Check my Cycletreads thread for pics.

We wouldn't be interested in cellphone connections as we want to do bike-to-bike, but if Bluetooth could link to a walkie talkie, that would be brilliant. But we have plans in store for later next year for which a pair of Blueants on their own could be absolutely brilliant.

Do any of our resident electronics gurus have any ideas how a Bluetooth headset could be made to link with a walkie talkie?

And final question, what does a pair of these things cost?
