    Cop Question.

Nothing wrong with my eyesight but here's one that I'm a bit unsure about.

Your licence states that you must wear glasses to drive. So you go out and forget them and get pulled over.

Can the officer 'lawfully' require you to hand over your licence if he/she is so inclined?

Nah, they just give you a fine. I've been lasered, but I'm not paying for another license till this one expires... I've had no problem talking my way out of it, although I've had a good talking to on one occasion. The nice policeman man made the fair point that he wasn't an eye specialist, and just because I could read number plates from further away from him, that didn't mean my eyes were fit to drive.

Maybe if you run into a good cop. My brother tried that excuse, the officer then asked to pop a contact out, long story short, my brother got a small fine for not wearing correcting lenses.

Just pretend that you didn't see the cops in the first place and be on your merry way
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

I wouldn't pop one out if randomly pulled over! Fuck that, a nice infection waiting to happen.

Could you clarify this? Hand over in what context? Why do you put "lawfully" < like that?

There is a fine for breaching the conditions of your license (because that is what it is) but hand over?

Yep sure is not to mention losing it. Could always just slide it around on your eye (usually makes peoples eyes water or makes then a little squeamish I've found).

Perhaps you should PM those members of the constabulary who frequent KB?

I would be happy for the cop to do that if he had witnessed driving that suggested the person was as blind as a bat and a danger behind the wheel.

That'd make it safer for me...

Stuff fiddling with my contacts, especially as you've probably just got your licence out of your wallet. Wallet = money and how dirty is money?

Nup, I wouldn't touch it at all but you can see contacts in your eyes. If you've had lasik or whatever surely you'd tell the cop, if they don't buy it get all their details and the address where you send your protest or whatever form to and send them a copy of some proof of the surgery?

Lawfully as in having to hand over your licence so that you are left stranded on the side of the road. I was having a discussion at work the other day about this and no one seemed to know one way or the other. I held the opinion that if you are reqired to wear glasses, contacts etc then that is a condition of you driving on the road. If you break that condition can the cop stop you from driving any further. Now apart from physically arresting you the only way I know is to confiscate your licence.

If you can't see the cop shouldn't let you drive no matter what the letter of the law says. If I was the cop and wasn't going to arrest you I'd say get your glasses or contacts then come to the station to pick up your keys and licence. If you answered that you can't do that unless you arrest me the answer no doubt would be ok, your under arrest for reckless endagerment. If someone you know is driving and can't see properly give them a kick in the nuts from me ok? And don't go bitching when they run your cat/kids over.

Im a person who wears glasses and have been stopped on occasions while out riding. I wear contacts for riding because glasses are a hassle.

Havent been asked yet about not wearing my glasses, and if need be Im happy to put a finger in my eye and show that I wear contacts. As for taking them out, no I wouldnt go that far.
My bass is such a slapper.......I cant stop fingering those strings
