Well guys hello for starters havent been on here for a while. I go for my full next January . Test rode a GT250R Hysoung the other weekend. Not very impressed at all. Found the gearing cluncky and just had no power. Was thinking of buying a GT650R when i get my full. Are they the same as the 250 to ride? Are they better opinions on the type of bike I should look at when I gt my full would be great. Looking at commuting but having fun on the weekends.

they look the same, but that is all i can help with, oh and that the heat sensor works on the 650 but not on the 250

Some people like GT250Rs enough to buy them but obviously you dont. Even if people come in here and say theyre good Id suggest you wait till you get your full then ride one.

In the latest kiwi rider mag was an ad for a Suzuki Katana 750 for $9995 new as part of Suzuki fest. Not sure how much the GT650 is but damn that Suzuki looked nice.

650 has two main spars in the frame and is water-cooled, 250 has one and is oil cooled. The 650 is, as far as I know made from the Suzuki SV650 plans. As thingy up there said if you don't like it for whatever reason don't buy it. The 250 market is a shitter tho, maybe focus on price and value if your looking at a 250, just live with it for the short time until you graduate then spend your money on a better value bigger bike.

Thats the one opionion you should not forget!
If you were onto work out the gt250 aint for you then when it comes time to getting a bigger bike it may pay to do the same with many more.

I think you guy's have misread Steve_555 meaning. (unless it is me who has got it wrong!).
I read this as - he test rode the 250 as a pre-empt to completing his full and purchasing the 650. It's hard to find a shop that will let you test ride a 650 when on restricted.
He is therefore asking - is the 650 similar in ride and feel as the 250?

I test rode a hyosung gt250r, then bought the 650r without even riding it. (due to my license) Glad I made the decision to get the 650 as I was getting frustrated wringing the bejesus out of the 250 over the haywards hill.
pleased as punch with the 650r, had no probs whatsoever. Planning on upgradin to vtr1000 or similar v twin sports tourer next year as soon as i have the $$$

Hyosungs tend to cause people to make sweeping generalisations and hear-say statements like pancake's (no offence, not your fault). Listen to people who have at least ridden one of the models you describe (I've done >20000kms on the 250).

The Hyosung 650 motor was designed by some ex-Suzuki engineers... not by Suzuki. Test ride with your bum as has been mentioned.
