Wellington City Council parking policy

Well all those who submitted emails a while ago about the council's idea to charge for parking will have received the new policy document via email...all 36 pages of it.....tucked away on page 28 is the following

f. Review the provision for motorcycle parking, including investigating issues such as quantity of spaces, location, parking price and motorcycle parking provision in town and suburban centres...with aims to have started by end of 2008 and start implementation by 2009

Is it just me or does it look like this just wont go away!!!!! We will all need to keep an eye on this still.

Just what are they going to implement by 2009?

It isnt going to take a year (plus) to do a motorcycle parking survey

That's more than just a "Review" they are talking about

Review should lead to analysis and discussion / consultation. Which in turn might lead to an action plan

I fear somebody has already made their mind up here :(

Sounds like they have already made up there minds, get ready to have a sticker on your bikes to say you have "paid" to park there, its abit like they stickers people have to say they live in the area and can park there.

Would not surprise me one bit.

Before we get too concerned.... does anyone one know of anywhere in the world where motorbikes are charged for parking on the street and if so, how is it done?

or even anywhere else in nz for that matter, the council should be more concerned with running those stinky buses on bio-diesel
