LOL alright guys...I think overall we can't tell at all, way too many factors to make any points statistically significant enough to give any evidence against anything.

Bro its all good. I'm not taking the information from this thread that seriously, shit I don't even own a GN anymore (one of my finals in my degree was a research paper LOL).

If GN owners can keep posting there mileage here a bit of a data base of Ks done will develop over time (or it will get lost in the archives), whatever. Someone doing a thread search for a rough guide to ks they may get out of their chinese GN can come here. Like I said thats my main use of a forum, to get a bit of information from the people who do the shizil, always keen to contribute where ever with what ever, plus I find this sort of thing interesting.

Really? you could get it Factory. I had to get after-market rust on my GN. (about a week later when it was out in the rain)

I put a 39 tooth sprocket on the rear to drop the revs at 100km/hr. Gave 4th a bit more top end so passing was a bit better as well. This setup is definately a good open road option. 41 stock setup is more for around town riding.

A guy at work has got a Chinese GN - maybe 2005 model? Anyway his insurance company got it for him after his previous 6 month old 2004 GN got nicked and they found it off the end of a wharf on the North Shore when the tide went out. He put a nre rear tire on it last week at 22000km, and apart from that he has put 1 new battery in it. But he looks after it, it still looks like it came off the showroom floor yesterday.

Well, its not a chinese one, but my 1990 GN has done 70000k's

Since i bought it second hand I've:

ported the head (Had a grind stone, some sandpaper and some time), put on a freeflow pipe i had lying round and jetted the carbs. Reworked the gearing, got bored so i polished the engine internals when i did a oil ring replacement, replaced the Rear swing arm with a GN400 swing arm, gn400 front fork, replaced the front disk with a crossdrilled one. Cleaned the living shit out of the engine cause the last owner didnt know how to change oil, disposed of about 2 litres off universal GOO from the inside Checked valves, set the valve heights, replaced the valve stem oil seals and filled it up with castrol GTX 2o-50, she's goin like a dream and i've had her for 2 years now.

All together, including buying the bike in the first place, the mighty ginny owes me $1400 :-)

Oh yeah, thats not including the Jack Daniels Airbrushed tank and covers it came with

It goes not too bad, can overtake pretty easily on the motorway and accelerates quick enough to keep me happy whilst commuting. But its still a GN, i thought i'd just get one for my learners and keep it till i got my full and a bigger bike. Its worked out perfectly, i've managed to learn to ride and handle myself on the road and now, at the end of the day, i have a nice stack of cash that i didnt spend on an RGV250 that is buying me a CBR900 in february >:-)

Oil it, keep it garaged and just bullshit your way through some trivial foolery 'till you get your full and then you will be happy you didnt spend that 6k on a learner bike...

Unless of course you are planing on spending 3k on a gn, which is just silly

Err, dude, add a tooth to the front sprocket if your doing that

When you give the GN balls, and constantly have it spinning high, the roller bearings start to slide instead of roll, this means you get a flat spot on the ball and it fucks out, had one case of a roller falling out of the bearing and messing up the engine internals but no matter, just keep the oil level topped up and use decent oil and this wont happen to you. Even if it does, a new bearing is like $40 so who gives a shit
