    Close call!

Damn pedestrians!!! Anyway, this morning riding from my gf's to uni for my exam, was pouring down. Due to the weather I was taking extra care and pretty much riding like a car lol.

Going along College Hill Rd and there's a red light with heaps of backed up traffic, a nice big gap down the middle so sweet I'll just cruise down the middle. I was going nice and slow just letting the hill roll me and suddenly this woman who had decided to sprint across between the cars is on my side on the ground . Lucky I had my force-field on!!!

So pretty much she was running across and hadn't looked then just saw me in time, slammed on her feet brakes and bailed! I felt pretty sorry but couldn't exactly stop or do anything so meh. Was so her fault! Wasn't a pedestrian crossing was it!!!

God if she'd ran into me it would've been a decent mess, haha even a cop car just a few cars down .

Have you guys had many accidents/near misses with peds?

Seems to be something in the air lately.

Last night I had three cars fail to give way to me leading to me taking evasive manoeuvres within 5 mins.

Then one got me this morning

Then riding around in the cage sorting out my smashed bike today 3 more cars failed to give way to my partner.

It's like everyone's just decided "fuck it they'll move" more than usual. Something in the fireworks this year maybe.....

But to the question you asked... Yes all the time. Ponsonby Rd is the worst. They rush it so much that they don't see bikes coming. Guess we're not as imposing as the poser cages....

nothing on motorbikes yet, but have had a few who have already started crossing before i got there, and they just saunter across taking all day.

I took out a girl when I was at uni. She and her friend rushed out in front of me and then after getting past the centre line one of them ran back in front of me. Luckily I saw it abit ahead of time and only hit her at about 10-15k. Knocked her to the ground but kept the bike upright and no damage done to either.

Had that when I was cycle couriering, no room to stop etc. Didn't think, just droppped my head and broke their nose! Felt bad but not responsible. We were both in the wrong and both had to wear the consequenses.

I used to get that all the time when my commuting route took me through K Road. The moment darkness falls, the weirdos come out. I had drunken people stagger out in front of me, trannies teetering on their impossibly high heels down the middle of my lane... I love K Road. Colourful and crazy.

It's funny when it starts raining and suddenly people think they have to dash across the road so they don't get wet - and they don't seem to care if they get killed along the way! I mean, what would you rather be... wet or squashed?!

Ah yeah, pedestrians. They should really learn to wait for the lights to turn green!

I almost clipped a mother with a trolley going around a corner here in Chch. I had the green light and was turning left. She was wanting to cross the road I was coming from - and her light was red, had to go a bit wide but I still think she got a scare. Let's hope she won't try something as stupid another time. Dunno wtf people are thinking. "Yeah, I'll be able to dodge bullets with my trolley... yiipee!"

I don't mind if they don't wait for the lights but checking the way is clear would be a good start eh? Esp if it's body v.s motor vehicle. You'd think it's in their interests to look?

Although, I must say that before I started riding I probably wouldn't have looked all that much if crossing between stopped cars...I wouldn't be running though.

I almost ran over a flamboyant homosextual who decided it was a good idea to just run in front of my bike. Luckily I was about to park so I slowed right down, meaning I was able to stop in time.
