Boys, when your partner is learning to ride, she also needs to learn how to look after her own bike. So PLEASE (even though I know you mean well) PLEASE don't do everything for her. Definitely show her how to do stuff, but don't just do it on the quiet.

My darling other half has a habit of doing stuff to my bike without me knowing about it. He's been riding for about 150 years (non stop) and I've only had my bike for a year. He can check the tyre pressure, lube the chain, change the oil and clean the air filter in the time it takes me to get the bike onto its centre stand. I know it's easier for him to do it himself than it is for him to show me how to do it, but I need to learn!

I'm longing to hear those tender words: "Honey, let's both go into the garage and check your chain tension."

i make the wife do some of her own stuff, but then she whines when i tell her she should be checking her tire pressures, and that i should check hers since i just checked mine, it not go like that tho

Anyway in that case at least she knows what you're doing - perhaps you could start by inviting her to come and hold your tools.

I understand completely where you are coming from klingon...

Dan and I had come to agreement that whenever something needed to be done on my car or bike that he could do it so long as he showed me what to do, depending on what needed doing at times he would just stand back and give me advice and watch what I did (correct if necessary)... I found it really cool..

He was so proud of me.. But sometimes he did end up feeling like I didn't need him.... Because of how quickly I have learnt how to do things on my own...

I bet it felt good the day I rung him up balling my eyes out stuck on the side of the road in the middle of the night... Flat tyre... Broken jack.. Oh and a flat spare tyre... LOL

At the end of the day nothing beats working together.. Bonding.. Its an awesome feeling...
Some things you can't do on your own... And some things its just really cool to do together... Bonding..
