You must concentrate grasshopper, divine speed rises though one's soul from the purity of ones devotion and discipline in following the path of the righteous.
Deviation from the path will cloud the approach of iminent adversity and leave you vulnerable to the dark forces that lurk deep within the bowells of even the most sedate cage.

Well I've wimped out and I'm getting old and have got a 3LN FZR250 chassis. It is going to be SOOOOOOoooooooooooo much easier getting that engine in to this thing rather than the RS125. Few questions for those that know. 1-How much can you lower these before ground clearance becomes a problem? 2 - It has 2.75" and 3.5" X 17 wheels. Are these too big" It looks like you can get about 110 or 120 tyres for the rear and the front should be OK. 3 - how does the suspension work with a lot less weight? Does it need a lot doing to it?

3LN thats a bit heavy isn't it? Might not power wheelie like your little black rocketship
But seriously despite the weight I reckon thats got real potential.
The 2.75 front rim is an odd size, from memory it probably uses a 100/80-17 or 110/70-17 tyre in std form. Have a look if you can get the Skinko version of the old Yoki 003, (the one with all the funky dots and no real edge between the tread and sidewall of the tyre) they'll be as good as anything if you use the 100 width tyre.
You could always try some Vee Rubber slicks, you'd have to use a 90 front so a 2.15 2KR rim would be the go for the rear use a 125 section. The join in the tyre looks a bit scary but they work well and are CHEAP!

Although I can only advise you from the viewpoint of running the heaviest combination of engine and chassis there can be its still consideraby lighter than the std road bike. They're pretty much fine when you run them light, you've taken away weight but also power and torque (though not much in your case) so just ride it until it does something then fix it. It's all down to preference in the end but a stiff chassis like that with sticky tyres (BTW are you using that hotrod honda motor?) would be an effective weapon.
Good luck, and when you get it going are you coming to do some wheelies at the Slipway?

GOt me Engine tonight and just quite literally walked in front door when craig turned up to drop the new chassis of and pick up the others in typical bucket style swap it,

    SO plan of attack,

Pull top end apart tommorow relap valves drain oil, clean head,Hone Cylinder, put back together,

    Put engine in frame,

AND try and find the specs for muffler length so Craig can slap me of a megaphone......

........or leave it and put it in something and suprise us all and have a bucket that goes.

Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.

Everything that isn't aluminium or suspension has gone so the weight is down a bit. I'm planning a monococque(?) rear section. I've got the shits with the RG/MB combo so initially I'll probably fit the old MB motor into it then follow that with the new one. Hopefully it'll have the horses to do good wheelies even in the FZR chassis. I'll probably lose one disc off the front as well.

I'm in Auckland now so have been doing wheelies at Mt Wellington recently.

Am really looking forward to getting the FZR bucket going. It's going to be so much easier to ride for this (getting)old fella. I've still got the RS125 chassis so may end up stealing bits off that like the wheels and suspension.
