I'd be happy to put a few $$ in too

So if their lunch starts at 12PM when would we need to group for the ride? And are we going to do Grubs route?

If we can get a few of the essentials sorted (meeting time, departure time etc) I'll try get a flyer printed to put in bike stores and a few other places.

I Have an email address for Mark Inglis here, Who would be best to send him an email? I have worked with him before about 3 months ago) and left a very good impression (i hope) so he may remember me. So who ever is in charge please PM me the authority to email him under the CC campaign, and some tips as to what to say, etc
    Thanks

    - Assembly down at the yacht basin, ride out the south end of the basin onto the main road, up Spa Rd, along the back of Taupo to come out on SH5 Napier-Taupo Rd and back along the lake front to the Suncourt Motel
    - Assemble/park on the huge grass area outside the Suncourt, face the motel and bow our heads in silence for 2 minutes at least (it will feel like forever).

If we have this about right, we'll put up a calendar item so people can register if they wish (although this doesn't seem to indicate actual numbers to expect)

Here's a map of the ride route idea. It's 20 mins at normal pace so lets say it will take 30. The route itself hits major visibility spots like the basin, the main street, Spa Rd is one busy road, SH5 Napier-Taupo has huge visibility as does the lake front all the way to the motel. Any other thoughts anyone?

Their lunch starts at 12 and finishes at 12:30, I'd say we would need to leave before 12 then.

I rode the route yesterday, at legal speeds and I had to stop at a few intersections... Took me 15 mins and 17 secs

Good work Jas. So an assembly at the Yacht Basin by 11:15 and departure at 11:45 would be about right then as we should allow a further 10 mins for a regroup along the lake front. Our arrival at about 12:15 would be spot on as they'l have their plates by then.

    That sounds good

What do you guys think of the flyer? That's only a rough sketch sorta thing... Is there any one out there who can make it more professional?
Hope limbimtimwim doesn't mind that I used most of it out of his...

    Wire Rope Barrier
    "Cheese Cutter"
    Protest ride

    Tuesday 4th December

This is an opportunity for all motorists to show your concern about the dangers of wire
rope barriers ("Cheese Cutters") on New Zealand roads.
If you feel these are a danger to motorcyclists and other road users, then join this protest ride
to raise the public profile of the campaign to stop the
construction of these and to improve the safety of existing barriers.

Leaving: Yacht basin on Redoubt St, Taupo.

Meet at 11:15 For 11:45 Departure

Destination: ROAD SAFETY BARRIER SYSTEMS WORKSHOP, Suncourt Motor Hotel & Conference Centre.

    Approx 15-20 mins riding
NB: there are no toilets, food stores or petrol pumps there.

NB: Attached is a word Doc with the above details if you feel appropriate to print out and distribute accordingly.

Bugger. I was keen to do this trip, but have to attend a meeting that day which will have a bearing on the future of my employment.
