    Crickets.

It's crickets that are the canonical filler of silence. Cicadas sound too much like benchsaws to be rhetorically appropriate.

You got more chance of finding a reggae band at a Klu Klux Klan convention than finding me voting labour

Seems like it's not going as far as the people complaining are claiming, but it's stupid to link it to VIPs - if it's genuinely offensive behaviour, then nobody should be subjected to it.

If it's genuinely offensive behavior then there is bound to be some other law that would allow the police to arrest and remove the offender. The example Annette King gave was someone waving the genitals at the Queen. I'm sure there must already be a law against waving your tackle round in public, regardless of whether the Queen is present or not, without them having to bring in a new policy against it.

This just looks like they are giving the police the ability to shift on anyone who doesn't conform to their way of thinking. I, for one, don't like that idea.

But anyway, back on topic....I honnestly pray to everything that's good that Labour doesn't get back in...Like Vifferman said, I used to think quite a bit about Helen Clark in her capacity as PM...but not anymore after the whole "anti smacking" debacle...That started the landslide for me....

    Yes, poor Anit!

I supported the anti-smacking bill, and have always been cautiously in favour of Labour's social policies, but the Electoral Finance Bill was the final straw.

The ALCP is getting my party vote this election.

    Biting and smacking???
You'll definately be a criminal if labour gets back in again.

This is an interesting topic if we take into account the political spectrum thread where it seemed the majority of people fell into the centre leftist(ish) catagory.
This is where I sat being your typical blue collar, slighty socialist, long term Labour supporter but now that I'm all grown up all I want is a TAX CUT,
Not to be wrapped in cotton wool and told how to raise my kids, how fast to drive, how much I should drink and the list seems to go on ad nauseam(SP)

Say no to the Nanny state centerist biege self serving politicians that have created this liberal utopia.

    But what's the alternative

I feel a bit better after that, back to work now! gotta pay their wages!

Hang on, III will be here shortly to sort us out......

    *waiting, waiting*

BTW, I wont vote for Alan Clarke either. Also, what's the point of having children if you can't beat them?? Honestly. Take all the fun away.

    Ahhh you seem to forget...

We now not only have more colours to choose from, (not that any of the others are actually any improvement), we also get to choose two.

I haven't decided yet, but quite possibly I might not vote for either red or blue.
