Oi! I was picking up pizzas around 7ish ... zeocen dropped around and we tinkered on Daphne a bit, got her fairings off, and bunged in the race spec 250 lc donk to see how it would fit!
Looked luvverly it did ...And zeocen actually did well on the ol'spannering! He wasn't as gormless as last time and didn't ask me "what end do I hold this?" once!

FFS a motionpro puller is probably about $20 & it's not like you won't use one again. Has anyone got a 12mm spanner I can borrow?
Use oil on the threads & grease on the end that pushes the crank, don't ask why.

Well, some modicum of success has been found ... substituted a bracing bracket using the pin and a torque wrench got the nut off...
Huzzah! Donor pootled over to see if we could get to the next stage, noticed woodruff key was missing already from the setup!
We tried BFI (blunt force instruments) to try and get the fuggin' thing off, but no dice
Have some ideas to put into play ... damn, feel so close, but still so far
but it seems the handy tool that Ixion dropped off canna be used since it cannot be bolted on!

Garrgh. I asked you if it was the type with the big internal thread or the type with the three threaded holes, and you said the three threaded holes.
In fact it's the type with the big internal thread. Probably 27mm x 1 mm
Get a 27mm bolt and drill a hole in the end of it. Or use a standard three leg gear puller with the end ground down to fit in the little holes (I may have one somewhere already ground) . Though I have known that trick to tear a flywheel in half.
Or get the proper tool, they're pretty cheap and quite commonish. Mostly. Unless the RZ is a funny size. In which case they're not.
You won't get it off with blunt force.
(To get the nut off is trivial - either use a rattle gun or put a bolt in each of two of the adjacent holes and a tyre lever between the bolts and turn until the tyre lever hits the ground. Then a socket on the nut with a big breaker bar, and hit the end of the bar smartish with the BLOODY BIG HAMMER. )

Opps 27mm would be the interferance fit, 26mm to the bottom of the threads.

Not very clear, but there is the o/d diameter if its of any interest. Best of luck and hope you can move the flywheel without damaging anything. Need to wind up the puller and give the end of the bolt/whatever you have made up a hit with a hammer to crack the joint. But am sure your mechanic mate will be able to sort compared to my non-professional advise![]()

Any butchering to try & get things off consider this: The crank it is attached to is the most critical part of the engine to remain true & the most expensive to fix.
As pictured it (or the more sturdy motion pro version) is the std Jap flywheel puller & will fit 90% of jap 2 stroke flywheels on anything 1970s onward + is as cheap as a tank or so of fuel. If you need to hold the flywheel a plumbers chain wrench (vice grips with a length of chain) can be bought from Supercheap, (unsurprisingly) cheaply. This will retain the flywheel without damaging it.
Other methods involving poking things through the holes often will cost you the coils underneath, I've seen it done, sadly to my RZ by someone who should have known better & I should have known not to trust him.
