    85cc - too underpowered for a 55kg woman ?

Just wondering peoples opinions on this ?

What about a 125EXC? There are a few 07's available now and everyone that I know that rides them loves them. I sorted out one for a 59kg boy who is 1.55m tall last week. That maybe a better option for trails. The 08's are going to be here early next year.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

i am just under 55kg and i had a little 80cc trail bike suzuki of course!
the power i found was great just to muck around on get up steep grades (used it mustering) plenty of grunt... but i would say personally 80cc is easy to out grow but even when you do its still fun!
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

    Depends.

If its a 2 stroke motorcross bike, Heck no.

If its a 4 stroke trial bike then yes.

    I would suggest a DRZ125 for a first bike for a women.

Yeah the 85 MX bike is very sharp on the power an no good for a beginner, how tall is she? I'd get a little 125 4 stroke. TTR 125 is electric start too.

    much better idea
    klx140
10kg lighter than a crf150f, $400 less, and better specd, discs front and rear, better suspension,

hey, my mates about 5ft 5 and weighs atleast 70kg and his little CR80r hoons around wif him on it! i dont think power would be an issue if it is a 2 stroke mx bike, but it might b a little challenging for a beginner.
My choice is what I choose to do,
And if I'm causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you.

Just looked at the spec of those klx140's, and it states they are 90kg dry.

That seems very heavy for a small bike?

A 85cc 2-stroke would only be about 70kg (I think) making it easier to handle???????

Yes but the power is to sharp and snappy for someone that hasn't ridden before. I think that most 80s don't have power valves either so the power band is quite aggressive (for beginners)

electric start, four stroke, adds weight,

    a CRF150F, is 96kg, and a DRZ125 is 80kg and kick start,

same as a WR250F is 12 or 14 kgs heavey than a YZF

Introduced my missus to dirt bikes a while back. So far she has had a 125 KTM(two tanger). She loved it but was a bit too snappy for her. She then tried a RMZ250 for awhile and liked the power delivery of a four stroke. She now owns a brand new TTR 230(elec start, stand, longer periods between rebuilds) she is no hoon and now wont ride anything but her TTR.
Kawasaki is set to introduce a KLX 140 with electric start, Yamaha has the TTR's in 125 and 230 (4 strk), Suzukis DRZ is supposedly good but i have no personal experience with them.
If the bike is for fun and riding trails with no intention of breaking speed records then one of these electric four strokes trail bikes are the go.
PS: my missus is 5'3 and really struggled on the 125KTM and the 250RMZ, but on the Mild mannered TTR she seems very confident and dosent seem to have much trouble getting through slightly tricky stuff.
    Hope this helps !!!
Congrats in convincing your missus to ride with you, Given some time we should be able to convert all women to bikers(saves making excuses)
