007XY may have something to say about that idea...
I'm not sure just how accurate the GPS is, but I assume it's much more accurate than the car speedo. Does anyone here know for sure?

Justifying speed using GPS? It isn't "justifed" at all by saying that. If you are over, you are over. The method by which you thought you were under is no justification, but merely an excuse or reason why. It would not change the fact that the police could prove that you were over.
Agreed! GPS is a tool to acertain the difference between your speed reading and the "actual" speed you were travelling at. Bigger tyres can affect your speedo reading. You can actually be done for speeding (112) even though you are travelling at your speedo (100) Trust me, you can. Took a couple of 82 in a 70, and 112 in a 100 to discover the van's speedo was not accurate. GPS was what we used to confirm it.

I was wondering whether he was traffic or not, had a humungus ariel ,(sp), on the back of the roof and just the little lights in the back and front. I think the Omega is the base model though? Next up is the Berlina I think. Have to check on that.
He wasn't cruising at 95 like the traffic patrols do, he was doing about the 102 per my speedo, I passed him keeping under the 110 indicated and he didn't bat an eye. He got past me again coming down past the Silverdale off-ramp and I sat behind him until he turned up Grovener off Grand Dr.

Like what? "sweet, can I join in???" come to mind![]()
(just kidding btw)
That's exactly what I thought...my ex boss had one in his car and kept on telling me to drive at the GPS speed, not the speedo, saying that the GPS was more accurate, and that it could be debated with the cops if caught...
Always thought it was half assed technic thatw as going to land me in trouble![]()
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."
Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.
I would say take the east coast road instead but after screwing up the road surface they've now decided to make it an 80K zone![]()
GPS is probably the most accurate speed measurement device you can have, providing: It can see at least 4 satelites, it has a fast refresh rate, and the current log can be downloaded.
The more satellites and the better spread of satellites, the more accurate it will be. Less than 4, or a poor spread, and it cannot tell if you are changing altitude, and will then under read. A slow refresh rate will under read your speed when changing direction.
Then when you do get a ticket, you can download the current track log from the GPS and check that the cop's radar was correct.
Time to ride
