A recent arrival in this country commented to me that he hadn't experienced all this brand jealousy (my words) previously. If you were a biker you were a biker full stop.

The only division I was really aware of prior to coming to KB was the 1%er thing and their dislike of Japanese machinery.

I had seen a letter in an Oz Bike mag many years ago complaining that at bike rallies the Ducati riders only spoke to BMW riders, and the BMW riders spoke only to God.

Reading through the threads on KB there is evidence of some closed minds.
The sort of copmment that says, "Only this is good". Be it a type of helmet, a helmet fastening system, a category of bikes, or a particular brand.

And in case anybody would like to trade up for $10.00; Ulysses NZ has a bike raffle going $10 per ticket. Your choice of about ten bikes: Aprilia Tuono, three different Guzzis, Honda Fireblade or VT1800, the big Yamaha naked and a big cruiser etc etc. Should be something for (almost) anybody...

I didn't think it was really anything serious, you always get pi$$-taking between mates and I count it like that.

Apart from the fact that, as a classic scooter rider, I obviously don't talk to anyone riding a Jap auto..

Yeah, that is where you're coming from, but Pritch is right. There are 'Brand Racists" here.

As far as I'm concerned a guy who rides a Motorcycle is a Motorcyclist.

The Make they choose I may not choose but hey, that's why there's lotsa different Makes & models.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

It's the morning commute, not the bike (or vehicle for that matter).

Dunno what it is about bikers....

On my 150cc scooter - no waves

Now on my Burgman, some waves!

Does this mean some sort of acceptance by 'real' bikers.

    I dunno, time will tell.

If they're not polite enough to wave, they aint worth the knowing.

Umm I just took a peek ad I don't see your ad in the "Online Trading" forum.
An ad (with a photo) in there can work wonders.

Bugger off mate, thats just the thing to do the loop on!

The ride down the coast to Thames must be fun on a bloody scoot.

Well my brother bought his first bike last week, a suzuki 50cc something or other. He reckons it's awesome. It better be as it will be my only form of 2 wheels for 3 weeks next week when I'm down at his place.

I have had a bike and a scooter for more years than I can remember. Unfortunatly as I am now on a pension I could not afford to register both so the scooter, being the most useful day by day, was the one I registered. I used a Vespa PX200 for several years to run a locksmith business in Paihia.

Solution, some yaers after I retired to the city of Hamilton, I sold both and bought a Burgman 400cc step through only had to borrow $3350. I now have the best of both worlds the ease (for an old man) of the stepthrough and the performance of a road bike. Got up to 140kmph last week and still had more to go. The Burgman has the biggest storage capacity of any scooter.
