    BMW in Wellington

Just been down to Motorad to see about the process for re-mapping the EFI computer, but they can't help me.

..."The BM tech is away at present and we are fully booked"
    ..."What about next year?"
..."Sorry, can't help you there either. As of January we will no longer be a BMW dealership"

If what Motorad told me today is to be believed, then there will be no BMW bike dealer in Wellington as of Jan 08. There 'might' be a new dealership coming soon, which 'might' be in the Hutt, and which 'might' be a BMW dealership.

In the meantime, it appears that BMW owners are to be left without specialist support!

Damn I hate this bloody computer driven crap! Give me a bike that any mech anywhere can fix anytime.

Honda, Yamaha and now BMW. What's happening at Motorad?

Curiouser and curiouser, or something like that. Aren't the police bikes big-arse beemers? That must be good for a bob or two. Also, isn't "Motorad" a BMW specific trading name/term/whatever? Wouldn't it be tricky being called Motorad if you don't sell BMW's any more.

Motorrad is the BMW moniker, and is also German for motorcycle. So Motorad (one r) have probably borrowed from that.

But it is misleading, I thought they were BMW specialists because of their name.

They could, of course, be getting out of motorcycles and into selling coffee, in response to KB member feedback...

Well, they just recently picked up the triumph dealership (from wellington motorcycles), and they've also got Kawasaki and MV Augusta, so still a few bikes to be had.

....there seems to be a lot of scooters on the floor now though

    What a plonker

Maybe if they offered good service in the first place, they might still have some customers left, from what I have read and heard not only from BMW, but other companies they deal with, they wont be doing that for long!
