RIP.
Agree with the difficulty in suddenly adjusting to the other - (feels) 'wrong' - side of the road. I do it quite a few times a year.
Actually easier on a bike than in a car and I find a heck of a lot easier when in a city - I always start and finish trips in a city when I can.
The one time I did not was when I first test-rode the big bike in very quiet rural Pennsylvania. With no traffic and nothing to 'clue me in' I rolled out of the bike shop (in a location much like the Taupo track - but even less traffic - and did a good (or I should say bad) 1/2km on the wrong side of the road - until I woke up to reality.
One of my friends swears by sticking a dayglo arrow and KEEP RIGHT on the screen of his rented US bikes. I tried this and it works well.
