    eek A "sting" operation...

Note that "sting" is in quotations before I get a responce about misleading title

Anyway, today I was out for a ride - christmas day no cagers on the road, sunshine what more could you want. I was hapily playing around the streets at about 60ish km/h, weaving left, right, accelerating, slowing down, practicing on looking cool (important for a newbie) - grat fun.
One moment I happened to be following a cage and just cruising something went trough my open jacket and into my t-shirt - a piece of gravel I taught may have jumped up from the cagers tyres, after about 30seconds I feel a sharp pain in my chest like a needle, then another on and another one. I was like what the hell, did my chest hair get caught into my jacket zipper or something ? then I felt something mooving like a bug, I realized it was some bad stinginging thingy and I was traveling at 60 kms at that point so I dont know if it was a willing action or just an instinctive reaction but I started pounding my chest with my left arm like King Kong - maybe done it over 20 times. The cage driver in front of me taught I was making gestures to him coz I realized his eyes were glued to the rear vie mirror and he was carefully observing my unhumane gestures. I pulled in a bus stop, stopped the engine and proceeded to remove the not so lively any more stinging monster from my chest. A BIG ASS WASP man. Poor thing was dead, and I'm sure that didn't want to be in this situatuion more than me. I guess as newbies we have to get trough those situations to become the experienced riders that offer us so much help. Just taught I'd share. Merry Christmass and Happy new year.

A common enough event actually. Helps to have gear done up properly....
I wonder how the scooterists get on with their protective tanktops etc.
ps Just thought...what if a wasp went up the leg of those shorts
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Ouch! I've been leaving the neck of my jacket undone to increase airflow in the warm weather. Might have to revisit that idea me thinks

I overheard two wasps down here discussing a new movement of "suicide wasps against happy motorcyclists"

They have connections in the middle East and everything.

You should be careful, they don't like failures and they may up the anti against you.

Try to enjoy the rest of the festive season but watch out for "suicide wasps" they are out to get "you"!

Yes, I will have another beer, thanks. Cheers John.

I suspect that you'd best watch out too Oldrider; it wouldn't surprise me if Hitcher is out to get "you", if you continue to write "ante" as "anti".

Same thing happened to me a few years back.

Visor up cruising along at 100kph, and a wasp flew into my glasses, lodged in my helmet and began to sting me beside my eye

All I could think to do is reach inside the helmet an squash the wasp with my finger tip.

I got stung three times before I killed it.

I was able to stop safely and remove my helmit to clean thing up a bit

The eye swelled and closed pretty quick though and I had to ride home quietly with only one eye open.

    Bloody hurt too.
Arguing with an Engineer is like wrestling a pig in mud.

After a while you realise the pig is enjoying it.

Ventilation was my idea too when I left my jacket unzipped 10cm. A big NO NO from now on in my book.

oh he was in the vent but there was no way he could have got past the mesh inside, it was just kind of funny see a wasp just sitting in there and not being able to get itself out.
