Just a quick question, how long does this "recieving the claim" take?
It really depends but esp period like this (Christmas + New Years), how long will it take to finish the whole process and recieve the claim?
Thanks

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
Took bloody ages for one lot of insurance to get sorted and only did when I got on the phone and ragged them into it ... with the bike insurace it was sorted quickly .... ring your insurer and ask them what the hold up is ... nothing like the direct approach.
"Receiving" the claim? Do they mean they are still waiting for more info from you?
Sounds to me like it means that "you have lodged the claim but we haven't had the chance to put it in the computer yet, and probably won't till after New Years when the staff are back and repair shops are open again"....
When we 'receive' a claim, it's by email .. instantaneously. They send it and we receive it. Takes oh, perhaps 30 seconds.
Nasty said ring 'em. Do that. Ask if they want you to throw it again so they can receive it!
Good luck.
i'm in the middle of sorting this for ej.
been on the phone to red baron today and we are trying to find out what the holdups are....
head mechanic says he priced everything up and sent the quote to the insurance co two weeks ago saying with the parts damaged it should be written off....
ive had a talk to some of the other fellas at red baron, and we are trying to find out if this is correct, if it is next step is to insurance co...
geez now i know why i have never had insurance what a mission this is...
its just the time of the year i would think, you would probabaly be lucky if you got your money before the end of jan![]()
Uh oh, there's the problem!
Well, they would have done a quote. An assessor would then review the quote and checked the bike over, and complete an assessment sheet.
The insurers will decide whether it's worth repairing (they usually work to a percentage of repairs vs what it's worth), and if it's a total loss they would get a few pre accident valuations and average them out to offer you a figure for settlement.
AND THAT'S when the fun begins!!
You haven't told the insurers you're "SkidMark" from Kiwir Biker, have you???? (gawd I hope not lol)
Ok thanks, I'll get on to it
Hopefully I'll get a new bike by Feb![]()

you beat me to it.
Mark, you have the people skills of a dead rat. EJ, if you want to find out what is going on ring your insurance company yourself and ask. Timeframes depend on how good your insurance is and who they can blame for the accident. When I wrote off my gpz it took near 4 months to get the money out of the other guys insurance co. On the other hand, I had some damage to the house and rung insurance co on Monday and the assessor was round today to have a look and talk about it. If you are not dealing with a 3rd party then it should be pretty striaght forward up to the assessor part and then the negociations begin.
