Sigh.
Probably never.
Look, it's just a two fiddy, right? Even if they do arrive, don't get desperate and waste your money on one.
Buy an RS250 if you want to have fun on a wee bike that you won't want to sell as soon as you can get on a bigger one, otherwise just hurry up, save your money and do your time on boring little shitters like we all had to, and get your full licence ASAP. Bikes with proper engines are a lot more fun.

I don't entirely agree with that.
As someone who got into riding at a later age than some (29 so not old..but old-er), I've been thinking about what to do with my bike now that I've been riding a while.
While my 250 no longer seems fast like it did when I started, there's still plenty for me to improve on...cornering mostly...I ride like a nana, cause I'm acutely aware of how much I have to lose.
So saying that I probably wont get my full license for quite a while yet.
And if you're going to have anything for a while, it might as well be something you like!!!
Apart from the Aprilia RS, there aren't any 250s on the market that will handle as well as a new 600. If you're concerned about cornering performance, get shot of your 250 as fast as possible. The overly-basic suspension and the fact that you can't get properly sticky tyres in the right sizes will fuck you over if you want to ride with sprotbikes in the twisties.
Jeez, man, just do it. 250ccs is entirely the wrong displacement for a four-stroke motorcycle engine.

it's a bloodey gpx with pretty fairings...
they are gutless and slow and the suspension is rubbish.
not one of kawasakis accomplishments.
they are a sports styled commuter
not a sportsbike...
always a scuker to buy em tho.
Yes we'd all prefer a 17 year old blown up ZXR250 to a nice new reliable GPX any day eh? The 07 GPX is a great bike and cheap as chips especially when compared to an old poked CBR/ZXR and still a capable bike for honing your skills on. The 2008 bike can only be better IMO.
zxr would whoop it whichever way you look at it....
but the suspension is rubbish and they are a slug, would ratherhave a zxr.
a proper sportsbike
not whats basically a parralell twin engined bike with suspension as bad if not worse than a gn250. with pretty bits of plastie to make it a sports bike.
only reason my zxr went bang is because i did not check engine oil level before i went on the track...it was low...crank didn't get enough oil...fucked a bearing and the crank.
shit happens.
gpx is still rubbish.
it's fucking great for round town and picking up girls sure
but on a twisty country road it's a death trap.
i don't trust non low profile tyres...personnal preferance.
low profiles give you alot more feel of the road.
rant over ...as you were....for now
skidMark's not stupid, folks, he does understand the 'motorcycling' thing. He just suffers from an excess of testosterone and a severe deficiency of zen.
In relation to your last point, Mark, I'm with you on that one, although road feel also has an awful lot to do with many different aspects of tyre construction (not just profile) and the bike's suspension and geometry.
Anyway, the point I'd make in relation to the 'new' Kawasaki 250 is that when one can buy a GSF or SV 650 brand new for $11,000, spending $8,000 on a 250cc bike that is inferior in every respect seems silly.

i was speaking to a kawasaki warehouse manager, and he said the new 250 is coming / on order. Expect to see it within a few months
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot
a 250? a 20 year old bag of shit at that.
You'd know a lot about that eh.
How so? If that were the case they would not be allowed to be sold.
A goldwing could be seen as a death trap in twisties. Still would be safer and faster than you...
I ride about 300km a week on a 2007 GPX. Has kenda touring tyres on it now and handles well. I am 75kg so suspension is not an issue for the touring type riding I do. It will sit on 120 indicated speed all day (or at least for 330km, at which point the 15 litre tank needs to be switched to reserve).
If you are less than 175cm tall and are not festivally plump then a GPX will be fine. $6000 on a new 2007 one vs $8000 or what ever the 2008 will be, quite the difference though.
If the Suzuki GS 500 was around a few months ago I may have gone for it over the GPX but then again it was still another $2000 dollars.
A 250 twin 4 stroke makes a good commuter bike and ideal to learn some good riding skills on. $6000 is what you would expect a new one to be if you consider a new 500 twin is $7800, a 650 single dually is $8000 and a 650 twin is $9999. All options I considered before going with another 250.
IMHO you can't beat having something from new.
I had a blast on my $2,500 gpx.. it's juat a little reliable bike, I got some sweet peg scrapage on the little bugger and kept up with the pack in the twisties. Maybe if you rode the bikes instead of crashing them, Mark, we would hold your opinion with weight.
Not everyone is wanting to overtake on blind corners having an epileptic fit trying to get a knee down like you. The gpx is fine for 99% of riders.
The new one I hear has a 17" rear now, which means it can sport Avon roadrunners on both front and back. Great tyres for commuting/twisties in normal person speed.
I'm not a fan of the new ones, they look like a midget 650r, I would personally just get a zzr250.. but I'm a fanboy with a limited pocket! :P
/edit: I'm 6'2 ~95kg, gpx was fine.. cramped on road to say, coro but not unbearable.
