I worked out I would need 2 bikes, one for the weekend and one to commute on, and couldn't really afford one!
Yeah, the commuting thing was a point of concern for me too, but luckily i dont have a big commute, and dont really need to lanesplit to make it in a reasonably short time, so i can live with having to wait a bit if needed.
Plus it'll just give me more incentive to move out of auckland
i'd rather have the ability to comfortably do trips out of town than have the ability to nip through a smaller gap in traffic. Gave the GN a blat down the motorway the other day, and moderate winds found me holding the throttle wide open in 5th to try and maintain 100-105 most of the way, ringing the poor girls neck so much for my idea of little jaunts out of town on her.

of course she'll need some modification and customising, but that's half the fun
That'll be a great bike for you, I've got the 2004 Volusia, before they made it a Boulevard, great bike, comfortable as, reliable as. Enjoy it!

Commuting and lane splitting on a cruiser is easy as, as long as you don't hoon it through the traffic, I commute on my Volusia every day from Stanmore bay to Grey Lynn and find lane splitting quite easy, there are a few instances where a sportsbike would be better, especially when some cars don't move over , but generally its all good.

How do you find her on sidestreets (for lack of a better term), i.e. narrower roads, not really a lot of room between the cars. mind you i often look at gaps on the narrower streets i ride daily and think to myself even a sportsbike couldn't get through that one, maybe i'm just a nana

Narrower roads and sidestreets aren't a problem, once again you will get used to the wider bars and eventually be a good judge of space, but in saying that I have smacked side mirrors of cars so many times I have lost count, but fuck em, if they don't move over they get their side mirrors smacked!
