    Thumbs up Yay! First bike

Got my first bike today (yesterday? drawbacks of being a night person!) after a couple lessons and pointers on it from McJim (thanks, btw!). Loving it, of course, moreso than when I learned to drive a car(duh)! (in a completly unrelated note, I may -finally- drop that 'walk everywhere' habit (now I think y'all see the car comment relevance, and stuff, maybe))

Now to practice... practice... practice some more! (And try not to terrorize the residents of south invercargill -too- much). But given how addictive it is, I don't think that'll be hard (making time to practice, not not terrorizing the residents)

I don't think I do -too- horrible, but still have lots (and lots!) to learn. (I'm stalling less!)

Looking forward to the fun ahead

have a good and above all safe new year
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

    Ride safe!!!!

Good on yer dude, Just try not to ride above your head. I've been riding for 40 years and still have plenty to learn. If you see a track day hosted by a big name at Ruapuna, don't hesitate go along to it. you will learn heaps & heaps. And remember dress for the slide and not the ride. Ride safe....Keep that bike between your legs ok? Oh yeah, all the very best for the new year.
    Regards

heh, that was more a reference to the years of "just sit your restricted already and get a car" (then apparently it wouldn't take me an hour to get anywhere =P)

*cue memories from long ago about bicycles, and the wonderful effects these south invercargill roads have on skin at -that- speed*... That sounds like a sound reason to 'dress for the slide and not the ride' .... or a sound reason to develop agoraphobia

Y'all have a good (and safe!) new year!

Glad you chose the RG over the likes of a GN250, I'm sure you'll have loads of fun and enjoyment out of the mighty frog.

I'll miss my frog but glad she's gone to such an enthusiatic rider.

    ENJOY and keep safe

Hope to see you round, McJim or myself only too happy to go for pootles with you for clocking up K's of experience.

    Happy new year BTW!

I already gave him a lecture for wearing sneakers on the bike. He went home and swapped them for a pair of sensible, reinforced workboots. A cheaper oprion than $600 Sidis but probably offer as much protection. He's got all the kit - jacket, pants, gloves, lid and workboots.

Chanak - I have a bottle of fully synthetic 2T oil here - lemme know when I can bring it round. I also have a load of bits and pieces as I mentioned - you can keep 'em safe or make a few bob by selling them on trademe.

Oh, and remember. Keep the rubberside down and the shiny side up.

    Hi Chanak,

Did you take the Frog to work today? How is your clutch control coming along?

Clutch control is getting better. (tips helped a lot!), and didn't take it to work today, that'll come soon (considering making the first excursion a weekend, there's a -lot- less traffic)
