Dark visors legal?

Hi Guys

Hope you all have a great New Year. I have had a question asked of me from a Scottish fella. I have never heard of dark visors being illegal but who knows. Here is the question he asked has anyone got a legally correct answer.

"On a side can you tell me if tinted/dark visors are legal when used on roads in NZ. They're illegal here but are generally accepted if used during daylight hours".

Yes they are completely legal . There is no rule about visors in NZ. Whether wearing a tinted visor at night is wise is another matter.

I guess a visor falls into the same category as sunglasses - and you can take them off at night if you have to.

I have imprinted on my tinted visor "If tinted only legal for daytime use" or something like that (Dont have it near me to check the exact wording). The clear one obviously came from the same mold as it has the same wording on it.

Ive never had any problems though.

You can almost certainly guarantee that some smart-arse SafetyNazi bureaucrat somewhere in Noo Zilund will wake up one morning, and suddenly realise there's no law regarding them, and institute one forthwith, if not fifthwith.

Think about it: there's been a steady but relentless progression to replace personal responsibility and commonsense with pointless and pathetic laws to protect the retarded members of the population from the natural consequences of their own stupidity.

So enjoy your freedom to decide for yourself when and where to wear a tinted visor, while you still can.

Speaking of tinted visors, are they polarised or UV resistant or whatever like good quality sunglasses, to stop your eyeballs getting melted?

Not sure if tinted visors have a UV resistance but I have always been told that you should never wear polerised sunglasses when driving and especially never on a bike because they do not allow you to see fluids, e.g. Oil, on the road surface.

Could be a load of shit too, but that is what I have always been told.

I love my polarised sunnies and drive with them all the time and never had trouble missing fluids
