Its the "smokeless emission" of TTS that has me harrumphing! I like the smoke!

And Daisy seems to love the muck I am currently feeding her, such a lush trollop greedily guzzling the love juice when I am wringing her out!

But yeah, a RS250 deserves the creme de la creme ... you wouldn't want to be forcing $9.95 per litre stuff when you can be using the mucho goodo one!

Things have obviously moved along a bit, my YDS3's and T20's used to get Castrol XL !! ??? (come to think of it , so did my H2 ! guess you had to be there ?) Gaz.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

Yep, I ran my pair of T500's on 10/40 motor oil. Thrashed the arse off 'em and they ran sweet. Only down side was they smoked more than when on two stroke oily stuff.

Should I try a cheaper mineral-based oil? The bike is an aprilia rs250.

Or does anyone know where I can get some fully synthetic stuff cheaply?
I started buying 5 litre packs from the boaty shops, you can get good stuff cheap and some packaging even states its suitable for motor bikes

So, normal engine oil? Did it smell as good? I ask, because when my bike overheats and leaks oil onto the hot exhausts (creating smoke), the smell is an awful burning oil smell, not the gorgeous two-stroke smell. Is it the mix of of special 2T oil and petrol that makes that distinctive odour?

You could try going to your local friendly bike shop/garage/mechanic dude and ordering a case. I got some in for people when we had the supermarket and basically just covered costs when we sold it.

Last year I ran my racer on Valvoline 'racing two stroke' - $10/L @ Supercheap Autos.
It's not fully synthetic, but seemed to handle a screaming motor well.
Took the exhaust off the other day and it looked clean as. Haven't had the piston out, but a quick look up the exhaust port and everything looked beautiful.

Ya know, this is the first time I've thought about it. It didn't have that distinctive two stroke smell, but it certainly didn't smell like a car does when it's getting tired and smokey. Wierd.

Got an RS250 and have the same problem. TTS and 98 octain in a thirsty bike aint to kind on the wallet, but its better than having nasty plugs ever couple of tousand k's or blowing the engine.
Im trying to get my pistons to last more than 12000km's lol

Cleaning deposits out of my exhaust Is what I want to avoid most so if that valvoline stufff does the biz it may be really worth a look...

and before anyone says it: Not the type of deposits it might obtain after a night at Drews!
