    Benelli - naked and beautiful

I have just viewed, stroked and admired the Benelli range of naked bikes. They are a work of art and the Cafe racer is a crazy looker. I found them at a shop in New Farm, Brisbane. The engine is a triple, so yes I would like it. It is a bike I could spend hours just admiring all the component parts - if I was allowed, which I wasn't. So a few quick photos and one day I will return?

The shop also had a Moto Morini 9.5 and Corsaro. Would I have a Corsaro or Benelli - hard choice but on looks the Benelli wins. It would have to be parked in the lounge not the garage.

The Tornado looks fabulous. The rest of the range look like an accident involving a truck carrying scaffolding and another carrying crated Speed Triples. Their latest "Big Trailie" offering was painted by a 4 year old boy using a 1980s Benetton catalogue as a guide.

You'd pick a Benelli over a Corsaro? I'm afraid Italian beats Chinese for me ANY day. The Corsaro, despite some finish issues, looks "right".
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Here is a pic of the Corsaro with a Tornado tail piece in the pic. Having ridden a Corsaro and being most impressed with it I would probably chose the Corsaro, if I had the opportunity to make such a choice. In my real world I decided to buy a Speed Triple instead of a Corsaro, Tuono or Buell - a decision weighted by price, tradein, brand and a few other factors. However the Benelli looks fantastic.

That first Benelli, I'm sorry, but I think it looks like arse And why it's called a café racer I have no idea. It reminds me of a cheap plastic children's toy. If you're going to build a naked bike, why cover it in plasticky shit?

I think the naked version looks pretty nice. It could lose the covering that the indicators are attached to though.

I absolutely love the Benelli's and came across the real thing first in Aussie, and then here when I was trying to track one down to buy..

    See here..

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=36960

Unfortunately I could not find anyone in NZ that was keen to either sell one to me, nor service it if I did manage to bring one over. There was also an issue with vinning.

Still, one of the absolute best bikes I have ridden ..... (even though it is NOT a ducati.......)

Didn't have one and I spent ages on the phone with Kerry (and via email), arranging a visit to Auckland so I could look at (and take it for a wee burst) the 'sports' model they had on the floor.

Lets just say that 'they were not keen' to facilitate either the visit to the shop (from my hotel) or a sale....

I guess it was personally imported?

There appears to be quite some difference of opinion (although similar levels of 'professionalism' ) between this chap and the chap I dealt with from the Auckland establishment. I am sure that there will an outcome at some stage, and although I have just recently bought a new bike and am no longer in the market for one, I would be VERY interested in finding out what the final outcome actually was......

FWIW - As well as going to Auckland, I also spoke extensively to the chap in napier and organised a visit and a test ride - took two days off work and organised a driver as I was pretty convinced that I was buying the bike he had advertised.

I then travelled to Napier to meet this chap personally (and ostensibly to buy the bike that he had on Trade me).... unfortunately for me as it transpired, the bike was not his and not for sale).

    Gutted was an understatement....

Interestingly, a company in Lower Hutt (Gracefield to be exact-McGuiness ClassicCars Inc) is now advertising Benelli's and Aprillia's. Doesnt seem to actually have any to test but you can order one from him. They do look nice but spending 20K or more just on spec sheet would be a leap of faith.

I wonder what the business is at the address shown on trademe: Location: Unit 1 - 101 Gracefields Road
    Gracefields
    Lower Hutt
Let the buyer beware. If someone is riding past there could you have a look and let kb know what the business is.

McGuiness have been around FOR ever. They're a Classic Car dealer and used tohave showrooms in Petone, but once the Internet took off they did most of their business from the Website and more latterly Trademe. They are a very well respected dealer in Classic Car circles.

And I have haunted them forever (well ok, since I moved to Wellington and more particularly when I lived in the Hutt) as they have some really fantastic cars (and the odd bike or two) in there at times... Great guys
