    *sigh* here goes.

I had a spill on the way home, first corner coming down dyers pass, for some reason I became on the outside of the corner (this is what I'll be racking my brains over) hit the gravel and either tried to get out and lost it, or just lost it, bike as falling hit one of the barrier posts which flicked the bike around, I went low side, clear of the bike, rolled, straight up on to my feet.

I'm fine, bruise on my hip, had a swear (sorry 'bout that) and a spit.

thanks to everyone who helped, the torch, the screwdriver, the phone call, the ride back up the hill, and thanks to carl for the van.

fxr needs new forks (or existing ones straightened) and a new right hand peg.

except for that the ride was awesome, going out to port levy added something new, deviant had a bird skim his helmet which was quite funny (it landed then flew away as i approached it), lemans I told him about the bird you hit.

btw I wanna go looking for that Japanese sub.
Bud all I got of you as you went past was a blur of the tail section of your bike

    Bugger about stacking the FXR:slap:

Having finally made it to one of these rides I made some observations and have quite a few suggestions for further rides particularly for younger riders wanting to learn, the location of the departure point, and a couple of other points that should be considered in the future

We've debated that one at length and just ended up staying where we are

We're welcome to suggestions on how to make the rides better though

Well we had a fun night toodling along near the back of the pack on the way out to Diamond Harbour. OK, we WERE the back of the pack. It was only Mrs Oakie's second time past Lyttleton so it was just a road learning / confidence building night for her so watching the tail-lights dissapearing in the distance mattered not a jot to us.
We spent a nice hour with our friends at Purau but I had this guilty feeling that I should have popped into Godley as we went past just so you knew we got there safely. My bad!
Heading back we got to Godley and saw bikes started up and ready to roll so we just carried on back via Lyttleton and Evans Pass.

I had a nice evening, was very tempted to split off on the way back and do the dirt road from Port Levy to Little River as I still had my dirt tyres on, but I resisted and had a nice run back too.
It was of course quite dark on the return run as we left the Port Levy leg quite late after first having food at Diamond Harbour.
Note that the man at the bar suggested we call them and let them know we are coming again next time, but I think they did ok getting the chips everywhere they needed to go.

Chin up Dave, corners are harder to judge in the dark. I'll be popping back up there soon to have another look.

It's all good mate, it's a nasty little bend that tightens up halfway through... one of the best riders I know has come to grief there. You weren't speeding, or riding silly, I suspect it might have just caught you out as you were thinking how nice it'll be to get home... I sometimes find that I need to actively refocus my brain after a wee while, I just get in a groove and pay insufficient attention at times.

It was great to see you all there. It was only a short ride for me as I live over that side of the city. I did see a cop at 830pm nailing it, in Governers bay going out, I thought he might have been going to see one of you's.
