    IT geeks enter here!!

    Alrighty...

Can anyone tell me how to set up a proxy address thingy..

Ie I want to surf the net at work without them knowing where I am browsing etc

Do I just type in something before the page address I want??

    Cheers

The most user-friendly way is to go to one of those sites from Warewolf's Google search. You go to a site, punch in the site you want to go to, and you'll get your site in a frame on the proxy page.

Issues include performance. Privacy (not with work, but with the owners of the proxy site). Also, it's not as foolproof as you think -- your work may have a list of all the common proxy sites, and as soon as they pick up on one they'll keep extra special attention to your actions. Any packet sniffer can see what's going on anyway.

    Depends what your after buddy.

Your best bet is to pay some clever bastard (like me) big dollars for access to the net via an encrypted VPN.

Then there is no way of your work knowning what you've been looking at, short of a keylogger / screen capture on your pc.

How about not stealing your employer's time and bandwidth?

Now there's a novel bloody thought.

Main reason behind it is my work has been trying to 'crack down' and said we are not allowed to use internet for 'personal use' while on shift... all the girls check their hotmail accounts etc.. and I surf KB

Its not so much which sites I goto but more that I do at all...

oh hang about.. I would just need to hide the sites and if im ever asked about the internet usage just say it was work related.. :gulp:

You don't like that? Then either go find someone who wants to pay you to surf the net, or stop cheating your employer out of the wages they pay you to do an agreed-upon job.

Useless cunts like you make me despair of the future of our economy. Where do you think that money you get paid comes from? Other useless cunts sitting around surfing the net?

Sooner or later, someone has to generate something of value, you know. At the moment, that's obviously someone other than you.

So, Mr Disco. How does it feel to be a parasite?

Hmm, I understand your point of view. Believe me I do. I just choose to ignore it. Good god thats a one sided point of you you have there.

I have a job with periods of 'downtime' working with actual "people" rather than computers gives rise to periods where everyone is actually behaving and thus giving me and my colleagues welcome chance to actually sit down and interact with people that are not clinically insane. Once you have done this then you have grounds for comment.

Yes, I figured this is where you'd be coming from.

    Doesn't matter.

Just go mop the fucking floors or something, you lazy bastard.

I tried a few brain-dead jobs while I was a teenager. They didn't suit my temperament.

Being too stupid to earn a living doing something stimulating enough to occupy your mind continuously is no excuse for stealing your employer's time and internet bandwidth.

    Like I said.

Floors, mop, you. It's called a 'work ethic'.

And what's with this peace treaty nonsense? You know I think you're a slimy little weasel, mostly because of threads like this one...
