Challenge Hardly Guy to a "riding 3 km and sitting outside a cafe all day, sweating in your tassled leathers"race.

Make sure he doesn't stack the judging panel with menopausal accountants and lawyers with wanna be bad ass syndrome,or you'll loose.

If you lose what will it prove? That a stock FZ1 is slower than a heavily worked HD down a drag strip? I notice they aren't offering to compare stock against stock or round a race circuit. Will all the other HD owners then assume that their less worked ones will also be quicker? They may be in for a rude shock. Throw enough money at anything and you'll make it fast.

When the Triumph Rocket III came out word was that it would destroy a 1000cc sportsbike in the 1/4 mile. PB put it to the test against a stock 04 Fireblade (Nov 04 issue). Triumph did 11.92 @ 115.6mph, Honda did 10.10 @ 144.6mph.

No No No my friend,to some people the death penalty will be reintroduced in NZ before anything would kick some Harley arse,if the Johnny Rebs are polished and the wind blows with enough force to send the tassles semi skyward then its simply not possible that a Harley can be anything but perfect,i know this from sitting quietly with sensible riding gear on in the beer tent late at night at many rallys listening to the "you should have seen the guy on the 1000 cc sportsbikes face as i went round him on the really tight left hander blah blah blahledgends they are.

God luck with the challenge and make sure it makes YouTube!

It would be interesting to compare the $$ value of both bikes.........

Careful mate, take it from and old motorcyclist who gave up trashing anyones ride long ago.......just when you think you have seen it all someone shows you different, probably part of the reason i love them so much, good luck and let us know how it goes,if nothing else you will have fun.

Ha, been ear-wigging on some of my yarns eh Mike??
    Well they're all true, honest.....

(Like the one where I blew away the supercharged 'busa on my stock iron-head sporty - heard two whines as I passed him , one was the rider and one was the blower, if the excess power of my bike hadn't snapped the new chain on my sporty he would have never seen which way I went........

Hmmm, equal riders - 20k jap v 80k hog and I'd still have a fiver on the jap.

It will get a big jump in the first quarter - and the hog will wind it down on the second 1/4 - but not enough.

By the time they get near the end the japs aerodynamic efficiency will overtake the hog's torque

Nothing wrong with a race, even more interesting due to the fact they are such different beasts.

    Will it prove anything?

Sure will, It will prove which one was faster on the day, Which I'm sure will be a bit of fun ,before hand, during, and after, Seems many people want to cloud the event with issues.

Anyhow, Are you going to do it on a Drag strip?

    Where and when?, spectators welcome?

I'll even wear the HD shirt that features Ned Kelly, a wolf, and The Eureka flag my somewhat misguided mother-in-law bought me.
