Ill have to see where it can be done with regard to the law and alike, But im thinking there are some drag strips down this way so shouldnt be to hard to sort. Hopefully

I have Southern cross (5 stars) on the other shoulder.

A stylised biohazard forming the links of a chain between shoulders is next. My toxic faze. ;-)

So i put forward a wee bet to the man with the fastest harley at my work place. Now this is where it gets interesting as his bike has a 124" S&S aftermarket engine in it with all the bells and whistles.... Im looking at either a 07 Z1000 or a 07 FZ1. " who do you think will win "
We are talking 1/4 mile drag..
    Easy answer.
Assuming the guy on the Hardly Rideable is good -
the Harley will launch like a mofo out of the hole, it's got about double the torque. the Jap bike will catch it at the top of first gear, and then it'll edge ahead until the better aerodynamics will increase the gap.

Now, if you took a proper bike (meaning a Suzook), a Hayabusa or GSXR1000 (and we're talking stock, no nitrous or swingarm extensions), then the gap out of the hole would be smaller but the gap at the quarter would be further.

Make sure the race is more than 1st gear - I'd lay money on the japper so long as it's at least the quarter.

Or - you could find a bend. he'd have to get off and push it around the corner, that walking bit takes time.

Don't race on the street, take it to a strip - safer, and less reason for bullshit excuses. Katman's rubbing off on me.
It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.

The power to weight of the Jap and the 14,000kazillion redline mean they launch as quick as the big torquers now.

That FZ1 does 130kph in first gear.

bugger using a new bike, why not use a 10 year old twin to kick the tractor's ass, then he'll have no excuse - new bike blah blah blah.

If the farmer is worthy enough put an S bend three quarter's into the race - see what he's really made of.

    I vote:

Farmer SD vs. Sprot Ford now that would be funny.

Buy a bike that is going to suit the riding you plan do.
Be a nut thru town and drag off coppers - any new litre
touring - harley, rocket or bmw
bit of road and dirt - motard
a short arse - you're fukked for choice really
    It is what it is

ok I've actually googled up some results
S & S 124 Challenge bikes routinely get mid 9 second times, although those are drag bikes that conform to these rules : http://www.ahdra.com/rulesssc.html

124 cubic inches is about two liters.

I think the ZX14R got nine second times out of the box with tie downs. I think you'd be pushing it to get other factory jappas near that time.

We are talking about you buying a new bike and putting them to shame with no mods, aren't we?

    From wiki:
    2006 Kawasaki ZX-14 motorcycle 9.65 sec @ 153 mph (246 km/h)
    2007 Honda CBR600RR motorcycle 10.6 sec @ 133 mph (214 km/h)

http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_...mes/index.html will also be a useful read.
