It should be close, but if the S+S dude drags often, then I'd say he has got ya beat. It will be won in the first 80ft. Reaction time and traction rules.![]()

Nah .the japa will blow the doors off him
So how does a contest like this work?
Do they make whoever loses keep the Harley?
It also comes down to how heavily the hog has been breathed on.
Doesn't Angelle Savoy run a V-rod?
I'd put my money on the jappa, only because i dont know enough about the harley(well S&S), last time i went to the drags there was a vrod doing 12's.......pretty pathetic considering 600's were doing 10's and 11's.
I agree with what alot of other people are saying, really, theres to many variables which we know nothing about, anything can be made to go fast.
I'd say with something like an fz1 its gona come down to the launch,an R1 on the other hand, the harley could get it off the line and would still get beat, the top end acceleration advantage of something like an r1 would be to much for the harley...cant see it trapping at 140mph give or take.
If youve got time, get to a track with some guys who know what they are doing and get some practice launches in and they will be able to help you set up your bike (full extension of rear chain adjustment, gearing, rear tire pressure, front set up, lighter oil,bit of octane booster etc)
That and practice will probably be good for at least a half second on the quarter. Then sit on a bike in the garage in your gear with a random timer hooked up to a light and practice in your reactions. Get comfortable in your head with launching to a light.
Go double or nothing on a half mile or more. Or pick a quarter mile with a corner not far from the finish line, make it so braking and cornering will be a contributing factor in the race as both riders will have to bring the bikes in control after getting over the line. A guy challenged me to a drag, his GSXR750 against my RGV250, I said sure as long as I got to choose the track and said I was thinking about taupo track. He said sure but refused the next weekend when I started unloading my bike at the horse racing track. (was tempted to try for our farms tanker track but thought it would be going a big far).
There are lots of ways to win a race! preparation, preparation, preparation.
I think you're in big trouble if the hog rider knows what he's doing. Aero's don't make much diff up to 100mph or so, and he can get a long way ahead by then....
Try to get away with strapping and dropping the fz1 (or zthou), I think you're gonna need it to get a good enough launch to keep that thing in sight....and practice heaps with the tie downs on it to get used to it. Good luck.![]()

Dont sweat the small stuff, It only makes you stressed,
The only S&S big blocks I have seen put out an alleged 120 and 140 hp respectively. That is off the 124 cu in size. Considering the stock outputs that is a big increase.
S&S effectively custom prepare their motors for each customer. What you get depends on what you spend. It would be good to find out exactly what has been done. Had the frame and cycle parts been modifed to handle the extra hp?
It might be closer than you think esp if the rider does drag racing and you don't.
But I would still expect the Jappa litre bike to shade it.
I get the feeling that win or lose you are still going to get some shit from those guys!
so...when is all this happening??
