    xtz660 165,000 km....run a mile or good buy???

    hi
was gonna buy an xtz660 tenere with 65000 ks for in a 1900 bucks round .the owner ( being an honest man) has now informed me that the bike actually has 165,000 ks and is dropping the price to 1500 .
should i run a mile or is the xtz capable of much more

Tread carefully with any big single with high mileage. Grill the owner for work history, and proof of maintenance/repair costs.
Could end up costing you alot of dosh.

Remember that the suspension/running gear has had alot of hours clocked up also.

    thanks for your help guys.
ive seen it and ridden it ,the plastics were rough as hell and she needed a belt of a powerhose .she needs a new chain/sprocks ,brake pads ,tyres so they were the immediate expenses that i noticed .i'm not too mechanically minded but there didnt seem to be any knocks or rattles when running. i took her for a short spin and having owned an xtz before i didnt notice anything different from the last one i had .it was punchy and even popped a wheelie in first under hard acceleration . i need a bike for commuting to work and back and a bit of fun on the weekends mainly fishing in hard to reach places. i'm feeling more sketchy though as time goes by.i could afford to sort out the tyres etc etc over time but if she blew that'd be me on the bus again.

alot of the brackets and screw holaes have broken away and the front faring is taped together .you can shake the lot with your hand ( if you get me) i personally would take it apart and fiberlass the inside just to strengthen it(like i did with my own) but it would still be noticeable .so you would probably need to replace them to bring it back to an original look
