    British Comedy...oh..there's hardly any these days is there? Not.

    Chewin' the Fat - (ok for first few series)
    Still Game - Brilliant
    Alan Partridge
    Ali G - not really my cup of tea
    Bo' Selecta
    Dennis Pennis
    EuroTrash
    Hale and Pace
    Men Behaving Badly (ok for first few series)
    Father Ted (as above)
    One foot in the Grave
    Rab C Nesbitt
    Red Dwarf
    Shooting Stars (gameshow comedy thingie)
    Spitting Image (lasted into the 90's didn't it?)
    Distraction
    The Mark Steel Lectures
    The Royle Family
    Some brilliant - some didn't raise a smile - but name one of them where the quotes have entered the lexicon like 'I have a cunning plan'.

    Red Dwarf 'smegging' maybe.

    Dunno if much of it entered the lexicon but some Ali-G was absolute genius.

    When he studied the FBI (episode of "Ali-G in America"), he kept referring to it (while talking to one agent) as "the FB".

    The agent kept adding... "I".

    ...sounding like he was saying "yes" in Ali's weak wanna-be gangsta-style "aye".

    Nearly gave me a hernia from laughing. (Very very subtle example of his making fun of people without them knowing it.)

    ---

    I reckon Flight of the Conchords are past half-way to legendary status already.
    Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.

    After reading the whole thread and seeing what is popular with modern comedy I say "Bring Back:
    McHales Navy;
    Gilligan's Island;
    The Beverly Hillbillies;
    Mash;
    Hogan's Heroes;
    Open All Hours;
    The good Life;
    Three's Company;
    Robin's Nest;
    George and Mildred;
    PT109;
    The Benny Hill Show;
    The Two Ronnies;
    F Troop;
    And about a dozen other shows that I can picture but can't remember the names of."

    I just love Tom and Linda from "Gimme Gimme Gimme". Soooooooooo unPC, and toilet humour I actually laugh out loud at.
    Oh, and I did also like "The Thin Blue Line" (Rowan Atkinson).
    I lahk to moove eet moove eet...
