Hey dudy's
Wooo up early to do this...............now hows that song go........."The things you do for bikes, like riding int he rain and the sun, when there's, no place to go, and you feel like a part of you is dying.......(Riding back after a rally!!)
Sels Dude, was nice to meet an greet you, might have to try a summer Welly rally next year.
Well what can I say...........Woodystock remains my favourite rally, for the site and facilities, the weather, and the fact theres shed loads of folk there.
The ride from Qtown and Thurs arvo was fast and furious, yep even for me. I had to stop for a snooze under a tree, in Hawea, the excitement must have drained me!! Then race to Haast, and thank you youfor the council that looks after that area, if I had wanted to skid for a few hundered metres across gravel I would have bought a dirt bike. Anyway, met up with IDB at Franz later on, and went to the Blue IceCafe and watched a Serbian Russian, Crocoian Gypsy band............yeah right they came from Auckland, and the place rocked....................what a laugh, and your dancing still hasn't improved by the way, ha ha
Then wearily got up for brekky and made the dash for Hoki, but before we did we ran into Paul Smart, Ducatti man extraordinaireand what a top man He is....."Mr. Smart, I will have your t-shirt soon"......grabbed his email for future chit chats etc.,
By the time we got to Hoki, the campsite was filling up fast, and it promised to be the biggest ever...............Friday night was kinda a blur but was good to feel the grass under my dancing feet again and catch up with new KBers...
The next day we tried in vain to meet up with Scummy and the rest, in Reefton, but my god there are so many beatufiul photo shots around there, and even Greymouth looked nice in the sunshine. Did manange to catch Shreik and Sels for a quick pint though before heading back to camp via a pub on the bulla gorge road, where tennis was played on a sandy vollyeball court, needed the racket to swat a few of those frigging sandflies there, though, wicked little shitty things
Back to the camp and most of the KBers were getting on the way to getting pretty munted....ghostbullet, tee hee, nice photo on my camera of you kissing the grass later that night.
One of the bands were good, the other one, well I cant play an instrument, so cant really critisise I guess.
Anyway, it was heaving, and fun, very boozy before watching those fantastic fireworks (I really will have to get you Kiwi's more vocal for those fireworks
Off to zzzz's at 4ish, only to woken up by those pipers, guys if you read this please book in for 9 oclock next time, was funny to hear bird song mixed in with swearing, and telling them were to stick their pipes.....funny now, b t at the time
By the time we left the site, time was a ticking, and the start of the ride was daunting all the way back to Queenstown in one day, felt like a documentary was about to develop!!!!
Ran out of petrol in Heri Heri, but met some cool locals and a bunch of Dunedin dudes I knew, so they syphoned their tanks, IDB drank petrol....thanks mate, I'd do the same for you
and off in the quad pak we went for a pint, chat and onwards........
The crown range by the time we got there, was like a frigging scary rollercoaster, but my trusty stead and my guardian angel angel got me to the bottom, although I had to lift my visor because of the fretful steam coming from within it. Any tan I have picked up is now a whiter shade of pale.
So thats about it, I continue to be in Awe at the Kiwi landscape, and wonder ohow much of the road I actually view when I am riding!!
And I love my new pipes which I think got recorded by Ghosty........mmmmmmm my Tex sounds like an adolescent tiger now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Vroooooooooom, Put Put Put, noweven made some cows run away in horror as I passed them
So see you all at the Vincent........yee Har![]()
