I'm contemplating something quite different for a variety of reasons, but mainly for comfort and survival. You see, I've become quite a menace on the Brutale and with a couple of years under my belt, I've been riding cocky lately and while I haven't binned yet, it's only a matter of time I'm sure. On the comfort front, sure the Brutale is more pleasant that a sprotsbike but only just. Also two up on a cruiser is a big plus.

Sure, you can own 2 bikes but you will always have a favourite so I'm thinking of selling both bikes (cause I'm good at that) and buying a Nightrod Special with some extra bits, heck even panniers for touring. Oh what luxury.

Have you ridden V-Rods? I haven't, but the ergonomics have always looked decidedly 'form over function' to me. I'd be interested to hear your comments; obligatory dwarf jokes aside, we're not far apart in bike fit dimensions.

Are you sure you wouldn't be happier with a Screamin' Turkey'd-up Fat Bob?

having a sports or more sports orinted bike for having fun and then a cruiser in the garage, is good, for when you just wanna cruise around, yes have down sides but have upsides, as all bikes.

Total different type/style of riding, but still fun none the less.

If ya head down this path finn, would pay to keep one of the current sporter bike and get a cruiser of some kind for the touring, stuff

It's taken me a little while to wrap my head around the fact that it's all about maximum joy on two wheels. Speed is only a little part of that. I, f'rinstance, reckon that I have more fun on a wheezy old 1340 Dyna than I do on an '07 R1.

And there's something special about having a bike that's your bike, bought with the new bike smell still on it and customised to your liking. A multi-bike garage just dilutes that specialness.

Agree but I feel that a change is in order. There's a new Brutale 1078R ? coming out later in the year so if I think I am missing out on something, I could always dive in again.

You must ride em before you decide mate,I found the night rod a Damn good bike but the nrod special awful,less willing to turn(fatter rear) a stretch to the bars and a stretch to the foot pegs.one or tother is fine but both = major discomfort on even short rides. special looks mighty fine but the standard rod of the night is a much better bike. IN MY OPINION.

Good luck though,It's great to try somat different and both the above have stonkin engines/gearboxes.

Thanks. I didn't think there was that much difference. I've ridden a mates VROD but am organizing a longer ride, then I'll ride a NRS... if there is one available.

Mmmmm! If'n yuse serious... and to be honest your rep is more along the major p/t lines most times... you'd find cruiserdom very different, though if you've ridden a cruiser you'll know that.

For long distance two-up, I can heartily recommend looking at the Boulevard, okay it may not have cachet of a Harley, but they are real stylish and non-biking onlookers never ask what brand it is, they just wander over and admire it! Also, if you decide on a whim to go for a ride around the South Island, you just gas it up and go, knowing you'll get anywhere and back without having to think about reliability.
