Are you really suggesting that a V-Rod would be less reliable than a Boulevard?

No, not at all, I know AMPS could show you a number of Harley's with huge mileages, it's just that the Jappa's over the last 3 decades or so have built such a reputation for reliability that it goes without question. I don't even check the radiator between services, though I admit to occaisionally checking the oil level, not that it's ever used any...

Personally I like Harley's and want a 1200 Sporty, but dollar for dollar, my C50T at under $15k on the road, comes with all the fruit including genuine Kentucky Drive bags and Givi backrest, and it's so good looking it fools everyone who isn't up to the play with bikes. It gets mistaken often for a Harley, and every single person who's seen it has loved it and admired it!

There's something seriously wrong with that.
It seems the Boulevard is better in almost every way than the Harley, apart from maybe wank factor.
Shouldn't a bike be judged on its own merits, rather than image or 'cachet'?

Maybe that's why you've got people buying and riding bikes like the NightCart Special, even though it's expensive, uncomfortable, lacks ground clearance, and whatnot.

I guess you don't need reliability, comfort, handling and that sort of thing if your bike's an expensive two-wheeled posing pouch.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Yeah, but who ever said buying a bike was about logic and reason? It's about feelings, and if you feel good and love riding your bike, who really cares if it's not the best handler, or goes a click faster, brakes a touch harder, and beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder.

However, I reckon my bike is a real pose machine regardless of brand - the fact that it's also a practical riding machine in its own right is a bonus. Of course I chose the Boulevard because it fitted us both and rode and handled so well I don't miss the GSX-F! As for a chick magnet, well the Missus loves it too!

Well, if y' are resiling from the pure sprots bike, and want touring comfort and pillion and luggae, but still want performance and handling and stuff as well.

AND you've got a big wallet and don't mind what it costs -then look at some of the top line BMWs. Y' get all of that , and they come factory fitted with a sneer to display to the peasnats.

Hope you don't mind waiting for it Finn, I was told last week that the delay is August of 09 to get delivery on a nighttrain!
Might be quicker to go get one from the US or Japan

I've never let the lack of brand dedication in NZ stop me before. You're right, if they don't have any, I'll get one from the US where they understand the very basic concept of hmmm, we need to sell stuff to make money...

I've always liked the BMW's, especially the 1200 multi purpose thingies but I'll save that for the next impulsive quiver.

On the comfort front, sure the Brutale is more pleasant that a sprotsbike but only just. Also two up on a cruiser is a big plus.

Sure, you can own 2 bikes but you will always have a favourite so I'm thinking of selling both bikes (cause I'm good at that) and buying a Nightrod Special with some extra bits, heck even panniers for touring. Oh what luxury.

    So there.
Stop making me drool in my latte...... saw a nice dark brown/black nightrod at Puhoi the other day - fabulous.

The HD sales man (sorry order taker) I was having a chin-wag with recently told me that they do not always get what they order from the factory, they often get what they are given!

A great way to keep demand high.

I was told its September at the earliest for a Sportster nightrod.

I agree that the jappas have reliability , thats why there are not many restored ones around they wore the fuckers out. Whereas bears stuff shit it self before it was stuffed so there is heaps of restorable stuff around. BUT look at the evolution of the Jappa over 30 years and look at the changes to harley over 30 years the basic image is that there hasn't been a lot of evolution. It's all about nostalgia, ferk I'd love to have a 30 year old electaglide. Don't think I'd fang it up the hillclimb at the kiwi, like I would an old jappa tho.
