    Gear shopping

I'm going gear shopping this weekend, for my first lot of bike gear. I want stuff that's very protective, but preferably reasonably cool (as in not ). Anyone got any advice for a newbie buying jackets/gloves/helmets? Cheers.

I'm sure he has brilliant gear, but to be honest, I'm not keen on buying stuff without trying it on. In any case, I bought some gear this morning

I got a nice Dri-Rider sports jacket with removable lining, a reasonably cheapo pair of light leather gloves, and a HJC helmet and spare smokey visor because my sun glasses wouldn't fit under any of the <$200 helmets.

It's not the shopping that does it, it's the leather

I went shopping today too: I was after some inexpensive, used pants and a godd quality jacket. My size is difficult to find, used so I gave the Quasimoto old model clearance gear a try. I was so impressed with the quality I bought brand new model Race9 pant and a Rapid red jacket!
My partner has SPIDI pant and Mohsin Jacket, I've been wearing BMW textile gear...Quasimoto has no equal IMHO for affordable high grade leathers.
The fit, the feel and the friendly help. Plus a fellow KBer gains rather than some faceless non biker.
Thanks Paula! Will call in at your stand next weekend in Paeroa to say hi to you & Bret

yay! I found the awesomest boots today for only $169 on sale from cycletreads... didn't find pants though because they were all too long or too bulky... *doh*

eventually however i DID find a style I liked, but they ended up not having my size (either TOO big, or JUST too small)... but they are ordering in some of my size for me ^_^ yay! so on monday I should hear back from them hopefully!
