    Blah My First Bin

Not an exactly spectacular one though...

Was heading off for a ride with a friend today around 1pm, 2 minutes down the road and bugger me if the sky didn't open up and render the ride over.

I decided that as I was already wet, I may as well ride into Mt Eden Motorcycles and pick up my visor mechanism. My friend headed off home.

Crusing along K Road and hit a substantial patch of diesel floating on water at Gundry Rd doing 10 - 15 km's p/h and yup, you guessed it, lowside on!

Rider - not damaged per se, slight bruise now apparent on the inside of my right knee.

Gear - no evidence that would indicate I binned what-so-ever.

Bike - ZXR400 (thank fucking god it wasn't the Respol huh?!?)
    • Hole in the Alternator cover (dropped all the oil on top of the diesel on the road - doh!)
    • More street cred on the left side fairings in general
    • Snapped off about a quarter of my clutch lever
    • Smashed left front indicator
Special thanks go out to Daryl and Richard at Colemans, and the young man who came out and gave me a hand to pick up the ZXR off the road.

Daryl kindly lent me his tools to remove the left side fairings so that I could effect a temporary repair so that oil would stop pissing out the Alt cover and Richard provided comedy relief, race tape, need-it and played foreman checking my dodgy temp repair.

So beers will flow Friday avo at Colemans they rock and roll!!

Not sure what lesson if any I can take away, I suppose if ya gotta drop your bike then it pays to be directly outside a Motorcycle dealership!

DOH! Sorry to hear of your fall from uprightedness. Hope the fix it costs aren't going to be too high. Falling overs all part of the riding experience I guess. I've done it twice and hopefully not to be repeated.

    Thanks chick

Shouldn't cost too much really, have a spare cover and lever and can do repairs myself as such. Might need an indicator lens assy, so anyone out there who wants to donate is welcome...

Hey, yeah that diesel stuff was created by the devil. On a day like today have to be extra careful cos it's everywhere. When i went into colemans today the roads were bloody treacherous. Good to hear your okay, better a broken bike than a broken rider.

I saw that they'd dropped a bunch of sand down on that corner. First thought was "shit that's a dangerous place for oil - right next to a bike shop".

Hahaha of all places to have bike problems that's where you want to be. Being a Suzuki dealer they're well used to binned bikes

Good to hear you're ok and the blade wasn't involved! That whole area is so dodgy with the trucks cutting through to Newton Rd. Drop diesel all over the corners because of the hills.
